K/R - white shorts

The white shorts came and now I have to decide if I want to keep them or not. This is the smaller size of the two I ordered and it fits perfectly, although the rise could be a bit higher. They sit fairly low on my hips. The fabric is stretchy, there's a bit of spandex and polyester mixed into the cotton. I'm not sure if it's visible in the pics, but you can definitely see my undies. So I'd have to buy some nude panties if I keep them. I also tried them with the legs rolled up, but they end up being too short for me to feel comfortable in.

Please excuse my exhausted looks, I just spent one hour standing packed in public transport...

What do you think? Keep or return?

I like the shorts! But was going to suggest trying a size up too. (I seem to be sizing everyone up these days!!). Yet, you have the larger size and prefer these, so if you've done the sit down test - you are good to go

Thanks Angie. I actually like the overall looser fit of the size up a bit better too, but the low rise coupled with the loose fit is a bad idea. I'm just feeling like they're going to fall down any moment in the bigger size! The smaller ones pass the sit down test, but they could be a bit higher for my peace of mind. That's the only real problem I see with these shorts.

I would have said to size up too, wear a belt, and cuff. But maybe that is just my taste? I think it would also be bohoier that way though, in light of your other thread. This way is very classic. Also, I have similar denim shorts from Esprit (but faded denim) that I wear belted, loose, and cuffed, so maybe I am just biased.

I was out in public transport today too. Fortunately my husband was with me because as usual the elevator was broken on some leg of our trip. He can carry the stroller with the baby by himself, whereas I would be lost by myself, especially when trying to get somewhere on time. I don't know what the poor man in the wheelchair did. The elevators are always broken! and frequently the escalators too. Humph. Okay, back to the topic at hand...

ETA: forgot to add that I always have to wear nude undies with my whites, so I wouldn't worry about that. I just ordered some white skinnies from Esprit, so you are giving me hope they may work out.

Thanks Scarlet. I think you're right and a different style might be better stylewise. I've tried a slouchy fit (hems rolled and with belt) at a store recently, this one http://www.amazon.de/ESPRIT-Da.....8&. The fit was good, but it was way too dark. I really want to go lighter for summer. I just had another look and found another pair of white Esprit shorts on Amazon, 100% cotton: http://www.amazon.de/ESPRIT-Je.....&ie=U They're from two years ago though. But maybe something like that might be better.

Public transport IS impossible. I saw quite a few mums with stroller today who had to wait because they just couldn't squeeze in between the people on the train. And those elevators and escalators are always out of order when I'm lugging my big suitcase around to get to central station...

These looks good. I would recommend wearing them around the house a bit to see if they stretch out and for comfort level. Sometimes they stretch quite a bit. That just might make them a perfect slouchy look for you

Thanks Ingunn and Mona! I'm not sure if I should keep them though. I just went back and tried on my old lightblue denim shorts again. They're practically cut the same as the white ones, maybe I should better invest in shorts in another style? I can still wear the blue ones if I embrace the baginess of them. And that's practically what Angie suggested. I always felt like they didn't fit anymore, but I guess that's because I bought them when they were a snug fit and they're no longer that. They here are two sizes bigger than the white ones and they stretch a lot more in comparison to the pic below.

Love the bright white paired with the blues in that top. So spring-y and pretty. Seems like the old pair would work as well but would just not look quite so crisp. I don't think show through is avoidable with white bottoms. Even my thick denim shorts require nude underwear.

The light blue shorts still look totally wearable, but I don't see why you shouldn't have both white and blue, one fitted and one slouchy. Is it true that you live in Berlin? I would think you'd have plenty of options for shopping!

The white ones look perfect to me! The blue pants still look wearable to me, although I understand how falling down pants are frustrating. EVEN when I wear a belt I have this problem of pants sliding down over time, I have written about this before I don't know if it's because of being an hourglass with a relatively small waist and fuller hips. I just live with it and hike up those pants.

They are completely different shorts imo. The blue ones are still in order. I would keep them - I am sure they will be a great spring and summer addition.

Thanks Kelly! I need new underwear anyway, so it's no bother to throw some nude ones in. The white shorts do seem to be dressier.

Thanks Liz! Yes, I do live in Berlin. We do have plenty of shopping, but for me it's almost too much. I have to say I'm easily overwhelmed and I don't really have anybody to go shopping with, so I'm mostly on my own. So even though we have a lot out there I sometimes prefer online shopping.

Thanks Denise! My problem is that most pants don't come up high enough in the back and/or have a loose waist if they fit my behind. I really don't like pants shopping. But the fit on these here is relatively good!

After wearing them around for a while I decided to return them. I do like the idea of them, but the rise is just a tad too low - I'm constantly feeling the need to pull them up. I will keep looking for ones with a higher rise.
