I was very fortunate this year and received some fashion funds on my birthday, I already had an idea of the pieces I wanted to add to my wardrobe and now that the postman has knocked twice I would love to know the verdict.

#2 a retro and yet fashion forward coat, I love the coat and would add my long black leather gloves but is the fit overwhelming. (DH leans towards keep but had some reservations over the lack of structure). http://www.greatplains.co.uk/p.....ulder+Coat

I also styled my hair myself today by blow drying the fringe and leaving the rest to airdry, does it still work or does it look a little too umkempt? BTW I really appreciate your comments on my hairthread, I felt unsure about bumping the thread but made sure to use the badges.

That stingray texture is very on trend. Love the bracelet. Goes with the bracelet sleeve on the coat...very flattering color.

And i can not stand how adorably punky you look with a blown out 'do and the white tee/jean combo.

You are gorgeous, your hair is gorgeous, your look in the third pic is gorgeous. I may be the only outlier on the coat. I don't dislike it too much, but am not sure why I don't like it more. Color is good, and so is design but it seems to overwhelm and add bulk, which I would not expect so much for a tall person!

You look gorgeous! Your hair is wonderful. I like everything you posted. The only thing with the coat. I'm thinking it will require slim pants. Wide leg pants may be too overwhelming with it. Do you intend to wear it with skirts and wider leg pants? If so, you should post pics so I can ooh and ahhh over your hair some more.

Marmee and Mochi, thank you for your opinions on the coat, the next size down is sold out so this is an all or nothing keep or return. But if the coat is overwhelming I would happily use the funds towards something else.

Alecia, most of my trousers are slim fitting straight legs, tapered or skinnies so I do have options. I would to be able to wear the coat with over the knee skirts also.

RunswithDolphins and Una, the watch is year old now but I think it is still available. It is the Nixon Kensington and comes in quite a few colours.

Sheila, that is such a compliment. I love the hair (and style) of sixties icons such as Anita Pallenberg, Marianne Faithfull and Jean Shrimpton.

I don't think the designer of the coat ever could have imagined how gorgeous you make it look. Lot of people would struggle with this coat but you bring it to life.

Will you wear it mostly with turtlenecks or do you also have a scarf you can use? I know my weather here is more extreme, but I do think it will be brisk and damp enough where you are that you might need coverage in the neck area as well as arms? I love the idea of the long gloves -- that will look amazing.

You look like a fashion model in the coat! Fantastic. I love 3/4 sleeves and wear a lot, but struggle with them used for warm outerwear, because once it's chilly I want full arm coverage. Sounds like you may have solutions planned for that.

I vote keep on all three (you rock that simple tee with jeans!) but try styling the coat differently? I would dial up the retro factor with the coat. Agree about wearing a turtleneck, or maybe a ladylike dress and red lipstick. This coat would also look great with a hat.

Wow - great haul!! First, I think you hair looks great. Contact JCrew immediately - you have that I am so cool and my hair looks naturally great look(even though it might have taken work to do that!!) Kudos!! I love the coat on you. I love the men's wear look and better a little bigger because you will still want to layer and it will probably accept a heavy sweater. I think when you put on your gloves/scarf IRL you will see how awesome it looks. Great color for you. I vote all great choices!!

Peacechick, thank you for the styling advice, I have a love of retro which I dial down on a day to day basis but it will be really fun to to crank up the retro ladylike elements every now and then.

Suz, I do have a couple of scarves which will work, one in particular is a missoni style knit with varying shades of brown, grey and cream.

Jules, you look stunning with your new hair style!! I LOVE the coat. Absolutely gorgeous on you. The soft grey is very flattering and the sleeves are just right. Watch is fab too and who couldn't use a t-shirt like that one? You did well!!
