K/R - sophisticated cut or frumpy (on me)

These are the colorblock shorts. I had a feeling they would be a bit higher rise by the photos but this is higher than I've worn in a loooong time. 4" inseam but at least 10" almost 11" rise. Can't tell if it's sophisticated or frumpy. There can be a fine line sometimes. (I just raised the shirt I was wearing to show the waistline, not styled in any way)

I think this kind of cut at this point in time makes you look like you know exactly what you're doing. So, sophisticated.

They look great on you - sophisticated, not frumpy at all. Do they work with your wardrobe? I struggle with styling high-waisted items myself, so if you keep them, I'll be on the lookout for inspiration.

I find it impossible to tell how the proportions look when your head and shoulders are cut off!

The fit is fabulous. But ... are these really you? I was surprised that you picked them out.

I think they look great. But I think you would have to try them with tops to see whether tucking still looks good or whether your waist looks too short. But if I remember right, you tend not to tuck, or just to semituck (?).

Gigi, not much of a tucker, you are right. I'm beginning to think these aren't as good a choice for me as a lower rise, straighter cut short. Sigh.

I love them on you. I'd style them with tops you own before you decide they won't work, because they might surprise you. I think they look fab.

I think these are very smart and sophisticated. To me, they are a more dressed-up riff on your casual "uniform". I like them a lot and will be keen to see how you feel when you have styled them.

I like them too. They are baggier and longer on you than on the model, which I personally find the more attractive option. Although, I think you'll take away from the beauty of the style by pairing it with an untucked top.

Thanks for all gentle nudges to give these a try I will be doing my homework, as Angie prescribed, tomorrow! Pil, I do have the taupe studded sneaks . . . that could be a very interesting juxtaposition to the jacquard shorts. My first instincts were more refined shoes.

I like them. I think it amps up the sophistication level that they're a little longer than it appeared in the model photo. I wish I could wear shorts half as well as you do.

These really show off your gorgeous legs better than anything I've seen on you. The blouse that the model is wearing with these shorts looks so good. Tucked looks like the way to go. What does your guy think of them?

I think these are really elegant, and can be dressed up or down. I think it will be fun to see what "new but still you" looks you can get out of them!
