It's really hard to get a good picture of your own feet!

I've been on the lookout for some flat, casual, neutral, low-contrast summer oxfords -- as much as I love my sandals, I want to branch out.

Are these just too weird with the mesh? They seem comfortable, and the mesh means they're breathable, but I'm wondering if the visible toe action is just too odd.

Yay -- they're cool and different -- keep
Nay -- weird and unflattering -- return

I vote Nay but I have a very different "shoe aesthetic" than the rest of the forum. Personally, I think they make your feet look too long and they lack structure. It looks as if the mesh is barely holding the foot to the sole.

I think the consensus is going to be on the keep side, however.

I don't love the mesh at all maybe because there is so much of it. Agree with Zap on this one.

I agree that there is too much mesh. Too bad because the shape is nice and I like the idea of a "little" mesh.

Ok, good to know it's not just me wondering about the visible toe thing.

The other aspect of the mesh that is occurring to me is that I wonder if it might stretch over time and allow my little toes to poke out the sides of the shoe. That would definitely not be attractive.

Hi Janet, just popping in to say that I don't care for the mesh, but I tried these on a couple of months ago and have been coveting them ever since: http://www.stevemadden.com/Ite.....82-613_624 I would have never picked them from the picture, but loved how they looked in person and on my feet. They are a bit off white and now I'm wanting to go try them on again. Thank goodness the store is way across town.

I vote nay. I am not a fan of mesh shoes in general, except as gear, even though I know they can be stylish!

I agree about the creepiness of the toes through the mesh...can't logically explain it, but it's there :). Lesson learned: A bit of mesh on an oxford goes a long way!
