The peacoat I had ordered arrived today. Just took some quick pics, please ignore the mess my hair is...

It's not black but a very dark grey. It has a high wool content and a nice weight to it too. I'm wearing layering top, tee and cardi underneath and it's roomy enough. I also tried it on with my biggest super chunky knit pullover, but it's a bit too tight then. It would work with all my regular fall sweaters though.

It's too long to work with my flared skirts, but I think it looks alright with my straight cut skirt in #6. I wanted a coat that goes with skirts, but my coat/jacket situation is pretty dire considering we have four seasons here so I'm slowly starting to think it might be alright to go for more than one coat. So if you think it only works with pants that would be alright.

I think it's very flattering on you, and you should definitely keep it! It looks good with the skirt. Where'd you find it?

I like it in all these looks and think that it's so flattering and such a classic that you'll enjoy it for years to come. My only concern? I'm cold natured and a worrier so I hope you'll soon find a longer coat for your severe weather.

This seems perfectly you and looks great. Two winter coats seems totally justified in your climate - do you have Uniqlo? They make a cute, cheap puffer with a drawstring waist that might work for you. It comes in a million colors.

Thanks JG! I agree that it won't be warm enough for our real winter, I'll need something much warmer for that. I still have a warmer gear outdoor jacket in case I won't find another coat before it gets really cold, but I'd love to finally find a bit more fashionable alternative.

Astrid, I love it, and I think it will be super useful for you. I wore my peacoat last year a ton. I still think you need a real winter coat, but I recommend this one as well if your budget allows. You wear pants and straight skirts often enough to make it do a lot of duty for you, and heaven knows you have been looking high and low.

Thanks Suz! I think you're right and it will be very useful, even if I have to keep looking for another coat. And I wear pants way more often than one or two years ago. It's in the budget, well if I decide to sink most of my fall shopping money in outerwear. But even so I should still have a bit to spend on other things - I will be getting heat billing money back, have my birthday and Christmas coming up and won't need to set all my of my Christmas bonus aside like last year when it all went into the clarinet.

Thanks Rachylou, I'm going to keep it. It seems to be quite warm, but I'll have to test it outside to see how it helds up in wind and weather. I think I might be good to go in it as long as it's not below freezing.

It looks nice with pants and your skirt, Astrid. You should get years of wear from this classic. As others have commented about length, I like a cold weather coat that keeps my backside covered while sitting.

Thanks Pil! Yes, I agree with you that a winter coat needs some length. I don't get very short puffer jackets for example, seems impractical to me.
