K/R - NAS raincoat

UPS just delivered the raincoat I ordered from NAS. It is online only so I was not able to try it on in the store. I am not sure if I like it. The color is ok and will go with everything. It has a funnel neck option and I really like the swing look. I think my issue is my old one was long, from the late '80s and all of the raincoats I have seen in the past 2 years are shorter. I do not like a belted trench, in fact, I do no really care for the trench style at all. Please be honest.

EDA - I added pics in a skirt and pants (and I dropped my camera, boo)

Do you wear mostly pants or skirts?

I like the colour on you, it almost looks a little big though. I get it is supposed to be roomy and oversized but it almost looks too big.

I quite like it and think it could work very well.I like both the style and the colour. I was wondering if you could try it with pants or a skirt with boots on - an outfit that you would normally wear with the coat? I find it hard to be certain without that.

Ceit, the shoulders fit perfectly and if I put a jacket or sweater on under I think it will be snug. I will style it with skirts and pants.

Hm, I think it would look cute with skinnies and boots, which are good rainwear as well.

Deb - totally getting a thumbs up from me. I love it with the skinnies and with the skirt. I love the interest in the neck line and I am partial to swing coats.
How do you feel in it with these outfits? Does it sing to you now?

This doesn't sound like anything remotely close to enthusiasm. If you didn't pull it out of the package and put it on, and feel an immediate and deep thrill with this coat, you should send it back and look for a coat you love. IMHO, anyway. A coat is an investment piece and you should feel like a million bucks in it.

I latched onto the same thing that LBD did. I'm taking my cues from you that you don't LOVE this. IDK, but I think a great coat should make your heart sing. I can't find anything wrong with this coat, but if you don't love it, and you're not desperate for a raincoat, I'd keep looking. You deserve to be "singing in the rain & stomping in the puddles" thrilled in your coat!

I am currently raincoat-less. I have been looking for a new one for over two years and have not found anything that 'sings' to me. In January I tossed my old one because I thought by not have it around it would make it easier for me to find another. It really, really needed to go and I do not feel bad about it. But, that leaves a BIG hole in my closet for the rainy days. This one is the best I have found so far.
Positive - swing style (I love swing coats)
not a classic trench
color is versatile

Negative - Length. This may just be my eye because my old one came almost to my ankles.
Color. My old one was a beautiful dark purple.

Maybe this like trying to replace an old love with a new one. I need to concentrate on finding the positives of the new model.

Let it go and keep looking. You don't love it, and you should love a coat.

Couldn't have said it better than La Belle, but I will add that I like the coat better in pic 5 with the dress peaking out and 6/7 with pants.

I like the colour on you. And I see nothing wrong with the length or anything else. But as others have said, it doesn't seem to be hitting the right notes for you. So for that reason, it makes sense to keep looking. OTOH, since Nordstrom's has such a great return policy, you could hang onto it with the tags as you look. If nothing better turns up, then send it back. But if rains come and you are unclothed for them, cut the tags and wear!

After dumping my 1980s long trench, I bought a red one at NAS. I liked it, and I still like it. But later in the season, a plum one came out. PLUM! The color that makes my heart sing! And it even went on sale later. But I have no use for two raincoats, esp. since we've had two drought years in a row. So maybe YOUR raincoat will come along later in the season. And if you order online, if the price goes down you can still get an adjustment later.

How many coats have you tried? Have you looked at Yoox at all? I seem to remember that is where I ordered like 6 different ones from. There was also a nice navy raincoat at NAS by Cole Haan, though it had more of a parka styling and not trench styling.
