K/R - Naot Oxfords - YouLookFab Forum

I bought these oxfords today as I am desperate to add a new style of flat shoe to my work wardrobe. For some reason, heels are not working well this year and my feet are very sore after wearing them. Thus, flats are a must and I bought these today hoping they would add a little versatility to my work wardrobe.

I've kind of styled them with different items that I might wear them with for work, or even casually. While I think they look best with the cropped pant, this style of pant will not work once November comes as it will be too cold. Thus, I will largely be looking at wearing these shoes with skirts/tights, dresses and dress pants.

These shoes were $200 (CDN) and while they are Naots and super comfortable, I cannot afford to keep them if I will only wear them once in a while. I am on a strict budget this year and knowing I have options with them will be important.

What say you? Yay for Keep, Nay for Return. Additional styling ideas (e.g. for pants, etc) also very welcome. Thank you!

I like them best with the long pants actually.
I think that the dark colour lends itself more to cooler weather outfits rather than more Summery cropped pants or skirts.
They look great in your pics, so I vote keep unless you live in a predominately warm climate.

Keeping it real: I am just not a fan of oxfords...too masculine for me...I like them with skirts and tights in you and in #6, but with pants they look a bit dowdy. What would you say to a nice pair of patent leather loafers?

Hmmm ... I really like them with the skirt, and with the jeans in the last pic.
I don't care for them with the cropped pants - I think they make it look like the pants are just too short.
With the long black pants, they come across to me as "sensible shoes."
I guess this isn't much help. I think for the price I would find something a bit more versatile.

I adore oxfords and I really like these on you. I do think that with traditional/masculine colors and a lower heel, you have to add something else playful or edgy in your outfits to keep the shoes from looking "sensible". Or take the outfit to the other extreme and go all-out menswear. Love them with the skirt!

My oxfords are purple, silver, oxblood and I have a pair I spray-painted metallic gold. I am hunting for just the right black pair myself.

I love them with the skirt - maybe that's because the the lacy tights give that nice masculine/feminine feel. I love the idea of oxfords but haven't found a pair that don't look like sensible/orthotic shoes on me.

I think the mixed feedback echoes the mixed feelings I have as well! However, I've picked up some good tips from you guys about what/what not to wear with them, so I think I will think about them for the next few days and continue to try outfits at home when more items come out of the laundry! ha ha!

Krista, I'm with those who prefer them with the skirt and tights. I'm not sure they work all that well with the crops or the boot cuts or black trousers, for all the reasons given. It's so frustrating, isn't it. You NEED the comfort.

Can you manage a small wedge at all these days? Just wondering if that would open some options.

Suz - I have some lower heels that I can manage, but I was looking for the flats for comfort - almost to wear on alternate days (e.g. heels one day, flats the next). The problem is that all of my fall dress pants are sitting in the back of the car waiting to be dropped off at the drycleaners, so I don't have a full fall wardrobe to try these with.

I actually really like the style of the shoe and the comfort is very appealing. The challenge for me is styling them properly - without ultimately feeling like a man!

I have the rest of the week before I have to return them - I will continue to think about them for the next few days. Thanks for all of the help - to everyone!

Well I am probably the wrong person to ask because I love oxfords, I love them flat, and I like how these look with all of your outfits.

Krista I love oxfords but I am not sure this pair are as versatile as you need them to be. These make me think of school shoes. I like them with the pants and with tights and the skirt but I think these shoes are going to have limited use.

I'm sorry to say I think they need to be with long pants and a very cool edgy top otherwise they look like part of a cafeteria lady's wardrobe.

I like them - I think they look good both ways.

I have to say that I've laughed out loud at the references to school shoes and cafeteria lady wardrobes.... I do work in a high school after all - maybe I'm channelling my inner school marm?

I love oxfords, but I don't love all oxfords. These are lovely to me. They don't look like a sensible, comfort shoe to me at all. I'm having a preference for non-black oxfords lately, though. Do these shoes come in gray or brown?
