K/R - grey puffer (keeping it!)

Here's the LE puffer in grey. Unfortunately the color is more yellow than blue, the picture on the website is misleading. My first thought opening the package was - oh no, it's the wrong grey! I'm not sure what to think after trying it on. I'm feeling better in this than in the loud pink, but I'm not sure it's the best color. It's a bit hard to tell because of course I've only artificial lighting right now. It looks more silvery in the pics than IRL - I've played with the white balance and I think #6 comes closer to the actual color (just lighter).

What do you think? Should I keep it? Go back for the pink hoping I get used to it? Return and look elsewhere?

Well, it looks grey on my screen. I think you need to take it out in the natural light before you make your decision.

First of all, the fit is just absolutely perfect Astrid. This is the most flattering puffer I've ever seen.

Is the inside of the collar and placket citron? Or is that something you've layered underneath?

You are right in that the jacket is a bit more silver looking that I had expected BUT I love the color! I think it's very versatile, will go with more hats and scarves than the pink will and I don't find it an unflattering color AT ALL.

Thanks JAileen! You're right. I don't have time tomorrow, but I should be able to go outside for some pics on Saturday.

Thanks Shannon! And I agree, I don't think I'm going to find another one that fits so well and looks so good anytime soon. That alone is probably a reason to keep it. And yes, the entire coat is lined in a citron yellow, it's very bright - almost neon. You see that the color has warm undertones when you look at it paired with the green plaid scarf - I thought this one with the camel would look impossible next to the citron and grey, but it actually doesn't look half bad.

The colour might be a bit unexpected, but the fit and style are impeccable. The pink looked pretty in the pictures, but I understand your hesitation about wearing such a bright colour day after day. This shade of grey is much more muted, but the citron gives the grey a bit of punch and your accessories now become the star. I think you might find yourself warming to the versatility of this shade after you've had the coat for a while.

I love the puffer on you...but I have to say, i really preferred the pink for flattery. How about putting the photos side by side for comparison?

Thanks Gaylene! I tried to pair my bags and backpack over it to judge the color and it's hard to grasp. My blue backpack looks nice with it (and it has the same citron stripes). I think the new satchel works too. It seems to look very different depending on light. I agree that the citron is a nice detail. It's not a color I'd wear otherwise, but I like it in this case.

Could it be that your hesitation is mostly because you were expecting a slightly different tone and thus the initial reaction was disappointment? Because to my eye both the colour and the fit look very-very good (and I'm probably in the minority here, but I prefer this one to the pink puffer!).

Astrid it is fabulous. It looks grey on my screen so I agree with the others to take it outside for a pic. The touch of citron i wonderful.
I prefer the grey to the pink FWIW.

Definite keep! I love the pink, but I think you will feel best with a more neutral coat and more colorful accessories. This fits that bill, and, speaking of fit, it looks perfect on you!

Thanks Fieldmouse! Yes, that could be it. It looked clearly cool toned on my screen and this is kind of an in between tone, but I would say it tends to yellow. I'm a soft summer, so cool tones look better on me, but I can wear warmer tones as long as their not too warm and most importantly soft.

Ok....looking at both colors (thanks for adding the pink pics!) and I'm surprising myself by sticking with my vote for the silvery-grey but with the proviso that you check the color in natural light to make sure you like it.

Although I think the pink is positively stunning on you, it is a VERY strong color. I'm not sure you are comfortable with something like that, although I could be wrong. I think the grey is much more versatile and will work with more scarves and hats if that's something you like to change up. I also think it may work better with your handbag and/or backpack - is that a consideration?

Of course I realize this makes very little sense coming from the woman who has a LE bright red long puffer coat and a new berry cashmere coat....

Thanks Shannon! I'm definitely not going to decide either way without checking it in natural light. And you're right, I love the pink as a color on its own, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it on ME. As for bags, I actually think that both my backpack and the new satchel would work with both the grey and the pink and my cognac crossbody looks off with both colors.

Both these puffas are a fantastic fit on you and that is so difficult to achieve. The pink is lovely, but I can understand your reservations re versatility, and if you don't feel 100% comfortable in it then it is obviously a no go. The grey one does look a lovely colour to me, though not sure about the yellow on the revers, but that is just a personal thing.

I like it for a puffer. In the pic # 6 it looks more khaki thank grey.

Thanks Aleta! I'm not sure if it wouldn't be just the case of getting used to the pink or if I'd have the same problems with it as with my pink skinnies. If I only consider which color is most flattering I'd have to go with the pink.

I don't know if I can weigh in on the color issue, since the lighting is so yellowish. From what I can see, the gray looks fine on you. I like the citron lining. That adds a nice bit of brightness near your face.

I do think I prefer the pink color, but that's because I'm biased towards bright colors to begin with.

The grey really looks smashing, positively smashing.

I find the dark raspberry... gnome-making. You look shorter in it to me for some reason... and I wonder if a darker grey would have the same gnome effect.

I don't want to talk you into keeping this coat, especially since you don't seem to be excited about the color, but I can assure you that you look good in it! A slightly warmed up grey should be great for soft summers, while a silvery grey could easily be too cool for them. I definitely prefer the grey one to the one in bright pink. It is a muted, but rather light color, and one that should work with most of your other colors (why not with cognac?). Think about it a little more. There's no need to rush anything

The fit is so perfect on you! What a flattering puffer. I think both colors look lovely on you and you should go with whichever you feel most comfortable in. The grey could be incredibly versatile and the pink could be a great pick-me-up in the dreary winter, but only if it does not make you feel too self conscious.

Thanks Jude! It's right that I'm not over the moon with the grey, but I think it will be versatile and like Gaylene said, I might find it more to my liking after wearing it a bit. I'm definitely more comfortable in the grey. I did place some of my things next to it and you're right, it seems to work well with my things. Not sure why the bag doesn't work, but it clashes to my eye. That's not a big problem though because I'm often taking my backpack anyway and the new tote that I will mostly use on the other days does work.

Can you check with locals whose opinion you trust? Some things that work fine in one part of the world read differently elsewhere.
