K/R - Gap straight trousers/Clarks booties

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a pair of Gap straight leg trousers for work. I know they're not exciting on their own, but they are a staple for my job and I promise to pair them in snappy ensembles! I really like the weight of these trousers - light enough for warmer weather, but they still hang nicely. Other than needing some hemming, they fit well and are comfortable. I know black photographs notoriously poorly, but from what you can tell, keep or return?

Also up for discussion are the Clarks Indigo boots I bought last week (while you were away Angie). They were listed as taupe but as you can see are a little darker than that and have an olive hue about them. But to be honest, I don't mind. The leather is fab quality and the comfort level an absolute 10 out of 10. Fit is perfect. Are they too dark to act as a neutral? Keep or return?

I thing trousers fit well from what I can see (it is so hard to see the fit of black trousers)

Okay, I am not sticking to the topic but when I saw the chambray shirt I thought of Aida's outfit with the chambray and orange and wondered if it would work as well with your pink jacket. The pink is a longer jacket but I bet it would be a great way to casual it down a notch.

I was going to say I think I need a new monitor as I can't make out much detail and then I read Sveta's response. Dark pants are so hard to see properly in pics but what I can see looks good. I think everyone needs a pair of simple black pants.

As to the boots, they are definitely too dark to be a nude but are definitely a neutral. I like the way they fit around the ankle. Short boots so often have gaps and these ones are very nice and streamlined. I would vote keep if there was a poll.

I think the trousers look like a great fit (apart from needed shortening) and are definite keepers. I love the booties. They do appear as olive, but I love olive as a neutral (as long as it is nowhere near my face). I especially love them with the denim. That is a fantastic outfit!

What's not to love? Keep both - so versatile and the booties are gorgeous!

I can't see enough fabric detail on the pants to make a judgement - assuming there is no strange pulling or crotch bunching, I think the silhouette is nice on you and a good work basic.

The Clarks are TDF! Awesome exposed and under jeans. I think they can work as a "nude alternative" - but will you keep pining for a nude boot even if you keep these? If not, then I say done deal.

That's a good question Rae - I do wish they were a tad lighter so could work more as a nude BUT they are ridiculously comfortable and totally fit my style. I'm thinking I could probably pick up a nude boot/bootie later in the summer after my SYC is over?

Shannon, your smile is so cute I can't concentrate on the clothes. I get the feeling you are already DANCING in those booties. Obviously you must keep! Having said that, you now might want to find a true nude for you pair as well (if possible). Oh dear, maybe you need the Reports as well, after all..... <wink>

I can't tell about the pants fit but I do know my Gap straight legs are versatile and I am very glad to have them as part of my jeans wardrobe. I can wear them with my Report booties and unlike super narrow skinnies, they fall nicely over top of that famous ankle gap. Just sayin.'

Ok...confession time...I do happen to have a pair of the Report booties in the sand colour in my cart on Amazon. I'm trying sooooo hard to keep my spending down but a true nude bootie would pretty much complete my shoe/boot wardrobe....AAAAHHHHHH...what to do???

The booties are SO you. I love those lace up lovelies! Great neutral. I love how slim they are at the ankle--they look great with skirts and skinnies! I'll defer to the others on the pants. I'm no expert!

Love the booties! One thing you can do with your black jeans photo is to crank the brightness way up so we can see the details of the fit. It'll wash out your pretty face but that's not our top priority at the moment!

Re: the black pants... if we can't see the fit too well in photos, I rather suspect any minor flaws (hopefully anything glaring you WOULD have noticed) will not be seen too well in person either! No wonder people call black forgiving!

Beth Ann - I found the booties on Amazon for $79 but they could be cheaper somewhere else. Amazon is one of the few shoe sites that delivers to Canada so that's why I go there.

Monda - these are actually my Wit & Wisdom skinnies (same ones in my WIW post today). I just simply cuffed them twice with the booties. I'm glad it doesn't look silly.
