Thistle the leather is a great jacket for what you describe. It will be wonderful on windy days and keep you nice and warm. You can wipe the marks right off. Use a conditioner once per year and you are done.
I do think you likely have room for both of these coats as they are quite different - apologies in advance for the enablement.

From one Midwesterner to another, I vote leather! It looks terrific on you. As long as you're not walking in a downpour, you should be fine. Also: Snot wipes right off leather.

I'm just going to agree with everyone else. The leather looks amazing on you and should be pretty indestructible.

If choosing between the two, I have to go with the majority and vote leather.

Can you keep both? They are so different. You are not going to want to wear the red every day but it is a very nice raincoat. I have it too!
