Someone please talk me down from these boots! A long-standing HEWI of mine has been waterproofable kneehigh boots that fit my short height & cusp calf circumference (16") in a warm dark brown (chocolate) colour

So I pulled the trigger on these 'Rhonda water-resistant boots' by Easy Spirit, but am now having second thoughts... I'd much appreciate any honest opinions on:

1)
The mock crocodile skin: is it ALGO/ OTT for smart casual &/or workwear? My original intention was 'plain' boots for versatility, since I only need *one* pair for my climate.

2)
Their 'water resistance': the description says they're 'leather & synthetic upper', but inside the boot it just says 'leather'. Do you think they will stay waterproof/ be easily reproofed with a leather waterproofing spray? I'm wondering because they have what seems to be glue residue on the shaft (last photo) - think it will come off?

3)
The fit: Does the 'bowing out' at the sides look strange? (They told me it's a 14.5" calf circumference but my calves are 16" - so that's clearly not the case!)
And the ankle creases when standing vs sitting (penultimate photo)?
They don't *feel* uncomfortable in the leg (no rubbing) or the foot (my toes can wiggle (with thin socks) & my heel doesn't slip), but I've never tried this brand before so I don't know whether they will loosen with wear...?

Thanks for your honesty, & apologies for hogging the forum lately!
