K/R - Boot Off!! - YouLookFab Forum

So, I am trying to branch out with my footwear, and after going through my closet, I noticed a lot of wine and burgundy, so, I decided to try a few.

I know the jeans are terrible, they are on the replace list, btu I wanted to pop on something quick that sort of went with the shoes.

Steve Madden booties.
Pros: Love the color. The suede gives them a beautiful rich look
Cons: They press on my ankle bone. Weird as I have never had anything ever do that. They are very slippery. Their bottoms are smooth, and I have to be careful on my wood floors.

The coloring os not a smooth even color, hard to see even in Zappos stock photo. They have a square toe which I though I wouldn't like the look of, but which is surprising feminine. They have the wrinkling? Ruching? Not sure what to call it, but I find I like it more than I thought I would. SUPER comfy not at all slippery.

Just thought I would see if they are excellent enough to replace an existing pair. Again, very comfy and not at all slippery. Not so sure about the ridge on top.

I like the Steve Madden boots the best but if they are not comfortable maybe they are not for you. The slippery will go away once you walk outside and scyff the bottom.

The Steve Madden boots are awfully pretty, but you've said in the past you have fussy feet. I do like the burgundy Riekers but they aren't as sleek as the Maddens. I think Janet and Mochi (that I can recall) have these Donald J. Pliners boots, but maybe the heel is too tall?

Pil - I like those but they are out of my size and the heel height is really pushing it for me. I try to stay under 2 inches.

By far my favourite pair are the Steve Maddens. I like the shape of the toe and the look of the boot. From experience, any pressing into the ankle bone is no fun though.

Have you looked at La Canadienne? They make great boots and booties particularly for very cold and wintery climates. And they are quite fashionable also.

I like the burgundy pair best, but beware the ankle issue - can it be stretched with time or padded for now? if not RUN. If you decide to keep then use an emory board or sandpaper on the slippery soles for a bit of traction.

I am really drawn to the Steve Maddens, too. The color and texture of the suede makes them very special. But the discomfort factor is a problem. You could always ask a cobbler if he could stretch them a little...and put a rubber skid on the sole so they aren't as slippery. But that's a lot of work! Part of me thinks it shouldn't be so hard.

I'm not as crazy about the ruched Kendras. They're fine....just not as special as the SMs.

I like the black booties in the last pics. They have some nice detail and might make a nice replacement for one of your existing black booties.

There is plenty of room around the ankle, but they do press on my ankle bone. I tried wearing them with my feet propped up and they are better but still pretty uncomfortable when I stand.

I don't know of a cobbler in my area, unfortunately. I have been asking around, but most people just give me an odd look! Also, the interior is man made, not leather, so not sure it if can be stretched.

I love the Maddens, but if they aren't comfy, I would return them and keep the Rieker's, they are a close second - very pretty and comfort wins every time!

If the Maddens are not comfortable, pass on them. Just not worth it. The perfect bootie will appear, eventually.

If you do decide to keep the slippery issue can be dealt with by getting rubber soles added to the outside -- I did this with a pair of my booties. It's not cheap but it is worth it! But if you don't know where there is a cobbler in your area it might be difficult.

I really like the suede booties but as Suz says if they are uncomfortable you won't wear them - keep looking.

I love this SM's and if you can get them comfy then they are fab! Both black booties look good, I like the first pair best. And that scarf you are wearing is just gorgeous on you:)

Okay, so looks like I will return them all and keep looking. I like the SMs, but DH just reminded me that my office floors are even more slippery than the ones at home. Last thing I want is to fall!
