K/R - Blush pleated skirt, green shirtdress

I ordered both these items from H&M recently. I can't get the Finds to work so I've included the links. I didn't style these except to add shoes and an appropriate top. Ignore end of day makeup and hair.

#1-3 - I really like the small pleated section. I always struggle with fully pleated skirts, so this seemed like the perfect compromise. I'm not usually a tucker but I liked this with the top tucked rather than untucked. I have some sweaters that I think will work and I think it will look good with tights and boots this winter. I've been wanting more swishy skirts so I'm really enjoying this. My plan is to keep unless someone notices something really off about the skirt.

#4-6 - Although I have plenty of dresses I really want something new to wear to the company party in October. I was originally thinking something midi length and swishy but I haven't seen anything I'm in love with yet. I saw this forest green shirtdress and thought it might be a good option. I like the color and the length (I like my legs and it's loose enough that there is no problem when seated). I'm a little unsure if maybe I should try a smaller size. It's supposed to fit loose though and the shoulders seem ok, so I'm undecided.

Thoughts?

Fantastic skirt and dress I like both on you. I am not sure about size of the dress, it seems OK to me, but you can try smaller size and see. The dress is lovely .

That skirt is so pretty on you! Definitely a keeper.
The tunic dress is really fun, and a great color. It has a real artsy vibe--not sure that going down a size is needed.

LOVE the skirt on you! Please keep. It's very elegant and fits you well. I know you haven't styled it but I love blush and black together.

It's a little hard to tell about the dress on my monitor but I think you have the correct size. That kind of dress is supposed to have a loose fit. You do have great legs and the dress shows them off.

Very pretty skirt. That looks like a great piece that could serve well for a long time. You’re right about the pleated section adding interesting and feminine detail without overwhelming.

The dress looks fine, if you are comfortable with the volume. The shoulder picture doesn’t come across to me very well, as in I can’t see the actual shoulder seams or where they line up to your body. How much ease is up under the arms in the bust? That might be a more crucial fit zone for this style if considering sizing down.

I like them both. The skirt is fun and a great color and the dress looks like a good fit. Love it with your tan sandals and I would think it would be good for other occasions too.

I hardly recognize you with a different hairstyle and outside the laundry room!

I think the longish sleeves on the dress are contributing to a casual vibe for the dress, more of a tunic-over-jeans than a party dress for me - but I’m not sure how dressy your event is. I think this piece is fine but nothing special, TBH.
The skirt on the other hand is great. Can you wear it to the party? Two birds, one stone

not that formal of an event – sort of dressy business. Not casual but not
cocktail dresses either. I was thinking the dress could be worn over pants or jeans this winter too.

Ha RobinF - That room has the best light although it's pretty boring. My hair always annoys me by the end of the day and I usually pin it back after work. I don't particularly like the way I look with it back, so I don't usually wear it like that outside the house (other than to work out).

Love the skirt!! Def keep. I'm not as crazy about the dress, to be honest, it's absolutely nice, but I'm thinking there could be other dresses that are more wow? But, if you want to keep it I think it's a nice dress

I like both. The skirt is lovely and fits beautifully. I really like this kind of looser dresses for myself and love the colour, so I might be biased for this look. The size seems fine, but it is hard to tell if we cannot compare with a smaller size. This dress would be fun to accessorize and could be a base to a variety of outfits with your necklaces, maybe scarves, different shoes... I vote yes!

I’m iffy on the dress. I think it fits correctly but the proportions seem off to me. It looks as though somehow it were more top heavy due to the long and loose sleeves. But that could be just how it looks to my eyes.

I think the skirt is a great way to enjoy pleats without struggling with the typical pleat issues. Keep! I'm not a fan of the dress, but that is just my personal opinion on that look, not your dress in particular.

I too like the skirt - it's interesting and different - but I'm not loving the dress on you. Seems neither here nor there in terms of fit and length, and doesn't really flatter your terrific figure. I think you can do a lot, lot better.

Thanks everyone! I'm definitely keeping the skirt. I'll probably wear it work this week with sandals. Reactions to the dress are mixed so I'm going to re-evaluate. I might keep just as a winter dress and keep looking for the party. I'm having a problem finding any dresses I'm remotely interested in though. I'm not sure why either - patterns seem too busy but solids seem too plain. I should probably hit up my local mall and see if I have more luck in person than online.

The skirt blew me away—a big departure from the usual, and really, really nice on you.
I can definitely see the dress as a tunic over black or blue jeans this winter, think we’d have to see how it moves with you to really get a feel for it as a dress.
Honestly, one of the things going against the dress in this post is that it immediately follows such a lovely item.

The skirt is incredible! I love the color, the style and the soft pleating. I like the dress, but to my eye it doesn’t have the same visual impact the skirt does.
