K/R - Bernardo Puffer Coat - YouLookFab Forum

Thanks to Angie, I came to the realization that I could really use some more toppers in my closet. I had very few coats until we began working together, which is ridiculous living in Seattle! I went from a few very sad, ill-fiting coats to:

2 trench coats - one bright, one neutral
1 long wool coat
1 short wool coat
1 denim jacket - black
1 ski coat

I've had a puffer coat, cropped blue denim jacket and leather jacket on my "to-buy" list for about a year now. So when Angie pointed out this Bernardo coat, I decided to give it a shot. I just slipped it on over what I was wearing (I think it's quite the look with the cobalt cropped pants and bare feet, don't you?!). I have a lightweight jacket on underneath, so I still need to layer up underneath and make sure it fits okay with layers and a bulky sweater, which I think it will. Assuming it does, what do you think? I really like the color. The side view isn't exactly the most flattering....

Picture 4 is a shot of another jacket I picked up from Angie's list - the Zella quilted jacket, which I'm intending to keep. Bonus peeks at a few other NAS items here: Jag jeans, Only Mine sweater and *squee!!!!* the Donald Pliner red boots which I am positively giddy over! Obviously this is NOT styled - I was just throwing on as many items together as I could to check fit.

So...yay or nay on the puffer?

I like the shape on the puffer coat - more structured than others it seems (of course I have never had one - just an observation). And your NAS goods are fab! Those boots are amazing and I would be giddy to wear them too.

The fit on the puffer looks good and I really like the colour on you. As long as you can layer underneath, I'd say it's a keeper.

The leather jacket is gorgeous, although the sleeves need shortening. The jeans and Pilner boots are divine!

Wow you look great in all of these. If it fits with your necessary under layers - KEEP, Down will settle a bit but obviously the arm holes won't stretch so I'd be most concerned about that with layers.

That is one of the more flattering puffers I have seen. If it is comfortable and the layers will fit keep. Love every item in the last picture - jeans look great, booties look great, jacket is fantastic.

Yay. I mean, even in Seattle it must get cold sometimes. Looks like a lovely haul.

ETA: is that puffer blue or black? I was thinking it's blue, but now I'm not sure.

Thanks all! I popped it on over a fleece jacket with a tee under that (I envision wearing this mostly when we are in the mountains, so gear oriented) and it felt pretty good. There's a size up in a store nearby, so I might try that one on. I'd rather it be too roomy than not roomy enough.

Jem, it's called Night Sky and it's a beautiful dark blue. I love it because it's a bit softer than a pure black (although I do LOVE my black!).

Great finds! That leather jacket will be so fab with your work wardrobe! I think the puffer looks great, but for a big purchase like that it's probably worth trying on the other size to be sure you are as happy as possible. I think that kind of coat tends to be warmer when there is a tiny but of room underneath, but not too much.

the puffer looks great from the front, but from the back it looks like it's pulling a bit across the waist - does it feel that way? I might try the next size up just to be sure.

Keep as long as you can layer properly underneath. That sapphire is the most gorgeous color on you! Loving the red boots as much as you are!

I like both! Is the back waist a little low on the puffer? That might resolve itself if you have layers on underneath.

The black jacket isn't leather - it's the Zella moto jacket that Angie posted in her picks that is actually gear, but she recommended as casual wear. I figure it will get a lot of weekend use. The sleeves are supposed to be that long - they have a thumb hole to keep the sleeves in place, which I love because my hands are always cold!

And Deborah, yes, the sweater is peeking out under the jacket. I wanted to make sure the jacket was comfortable with extra layers! I'll post some better pics of NAS pieces later. Since our summer has disappeared, I'll probably get to wear a lot of it sooner than I'd like!

Zella jacket is amazing on you!
I tried the puffer in the store too but it was not a good fit for me. Medium was a bit snug to layer under but Large was too big in the hips. I really don't like how they made it ot curve over hips because it decreasing the number of women it can fit properly.
You are one of those lucky ducks because it fits you well!

Love the puffer on you! What's great is that it still gives you a defined waist.
I tend to look like I'm just wearing a sleeping bag!

The Zella jacket is terrific, too, and oh, do I love those boots!
