K/R - Battle of the black skirts - ETA more pictures

I have very old black pencil skirt (10+ years) that it kind of fits me at the moment but because it is sitting higher on my hips, it feels too short and I don’t wear it. And I could really use a black skirt, so I ordered 3 and in different silhouettes. One is classic pencil shape, one is a bias asymmetrical hem and third is a trumpet. I will not give up more details now, since I don’t want to influence your opinion. What do you think? Do you like any of those? Should I keep looking? Any other shape that I should try? I hope you can tell which one is which, and I have also included picture of my old skirt that I would like to replace.

I agree with Toban! But it depends on what look you are going for. I find the pencil skirt more office and can be dressed up or down, the bias skirt more artsy/flowy and the trumpet more form fitting/a bit sexier.

I love them all too but I am particularly drawn to the more interesting ones: the trumpet and the asymmetrical. I really don’t think you can go wrong here.

My faves are #3 and #4.

#2 next, and #1 after that.

To clarify - I would mostly wear it to work. Maybe I need to try them with the complete work outfit?
Angie - #1 I already own, but feels too short, so I want to replace it.

i like #4 because it seems the most versatile
but #3 or #2 seem the most fun....but as i'm skirt challenged, i'd have a hard time figuring out how to wear them

I like 2 and 3, and 2 my absolute favorite. Looks so elegant and the fabric looks really nice.

All look really good but my favorites are 2 and 3. Much depends on how you feel in them and if you are looking for change or not.

All look very nice on you, fit very well. I agree that you should choose the look you like the best.
Personally, I really LOVE no 2 on you. It is sharp and structured with a fun feminine vibe. Next is no 4 - fits perfectly and is a classic. No 3 last, but it is because I just really like pencil skirts - my personal taste only.

If you wear toppers, I would try them each on with your toppers (as well as tops if you think there might be a difference). Sometimes things that should work in theory don’t in real life.

3 is my favourite. I’ve one very like it and I love it. Completely versatile and to my eye elegant and feminine.

But they all look good - I think I’m kind of agreeing with you on the length though

I like all of them on you, but my favorite is number 3 by far, followed by 4 and 2. Number 1 fits you well but I understand what you mean about the length as these days I too prefer longer skirts.

Anchie, I don't think #1 is too short for work. It's a nice skirt! Personally, I prefer the length of #4 because it looks more elegant at that length.

Make sure you can make complete outfits that you love with #2 and #3. No orphan skirts please!

Here are my thoughts.
#4 is something that is closest to what I am used to wear, it will be probably easiest to style and looks most appropriate for work.
#3 is the biggest departure for me and even though it got lot of positive feedback here, and I do like how swishy it feels, it is maybe too flirty for work and not sure if it will work with my toppers. It could be it if I am looking for a skirt for some more festive occasion.
#2 is best of all 3 for weight fluctuations, it is very stretchy with elastic band. It is also a great deal - cheapest off all (20 Euros BR skirt) and could be a fun change from my usual pencil skirts. But I would need to see how it would look like in complete outfits. And my main question is - is it work appropriate?
#1 doesn’t look too short in picture but it is riding up constantly and is too exposing when sitting.

I like 3 & 4 best, but if it's for work, then 4. Not sure about 2 for work--I think it depends on your workplace and what you wear on top. Trumpet skirts seem a bit dressier to me.

I think feeling comfortable in a skirt or any item is an important factor.

My picks would be 2 and 4. 2 is being shown as an all black outfit with no topper so it shows your silhouette, which is great but maybe not what you are after. A different colour top and/or topper could give it a more conservative appearance. I can tell it hangs really well and from what you describe it sounds like a keeper. I am a regular skirt wearer and I don’t think it’s hard to style this type of skirt. It looks so good on you!
The pencil in 4 is a no brainer in my opinion. It looks so elegant!

Actually I think #3 might deserve further consideration for work. I actually find #2 more va va voom (I love it on you by the way). #3 with a blazer might be work appropriate but a little more unexpected than the pencil skirt. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of these.

I think it’s great to have 2 skirts that you can mix into different looks. The pencil skirt in #4 is the length I would prefer for pencil skirts, as there’s less risk of riding up when sitting.

I have a poison eye for asymmetrical skirts (it’s not you, it’s me!) So #2 would be my pick, but I think both #2 and #3 would give you a good change when you want a different look. Agree with the advice to style both as you would likely wear them before you pick.

These all look great on you. If the skirt is for work, I would probably choose 3 or 4; I think 2 is a little too dressy for work. Maybe keep 2 as something to wear to nice events, since it was so cheap?

I would definitely try 3 and 4 with work tops and toppers to see how the proportions play out.

If it were me, I would probably pick 4, simply because pencils skirts are a no-brainer when it comes to styling, and it would make getting ready for work easy.

2 would certainly be work appropriate in my work environment and I would love it. But this is about you and how you would feel wearing it for work. I think this skirt can be dressed up or down, going from office to dinner or concert just with different accessories and shoes. Try it with your blazers and tops! It is too great to pass.
4 is an office classic, it will always work.
Maybe both?

You can wear that trumpet skirt! I wish I could, but any weight always goes to my belly first, so trumpet skirts are hard for me. It really highlights the best parts of your figure and is vavavoom. Not work appropriate.

#3 probably could be styled for work, and might be a nice change. If you're into a direct replacement, #4 is the one. Entirely office appropriate and unlikely to distract you or others.

Agreeing with most of the other comments. #4 is a slam dunk, fits beautifully, wonderful length. But, I love a good pencil skirt, so I’m biased. #3 struck me as very classic, and I like the drape of the bias cut. #2 is fun, with the tulip, but I was curious what it might look like from the back. I’d wear it to work, but, I don’t worry too much about whether others think my clothes are too “va-voom” or distracting. So for me, 2 is the one that’s the most context dependent, based on what works for you and your workplace.

I completely agree with all comments, I have same concerns about #2.
Forgot to mention main reason why I hesitate about #3 is actually it’s fabric which you are not able to tell from the pictures. It is lightweight and somewhat shiny so it looks more festive in person.
I also have some reservations about #4 - it fits perfectly at the moment but it does not have much give so it will not accommodate any weight fluctuations. But it is already completely sold out in all 3 colors (black, orangey red and cream - all beautiful), it seems that nice pencil skirts are not easy to find.
I will try to post more pictures with #2 which I am the most uncertain about.

My favorite is #3 but it is hard to tell about the fabric. I think #2 is gorgeous on you but in my opinion is too sexy for work. It would be great for dressy occasions though, if you can keep two

I think #2 could also be dressed down -- with a tee and casual footwear for summer. Casual vavavoom for barbecues and such (esp if it is stretchy material and likely to be comfy).

I agree with others that 4 is the most direct replacement but 3 is more interesting, depending on how it works with your toppers.

I love #1-2-3, because they showcase your beautiful hourglass figure. #4 looks fine, but to me, it seems a bit generic, compared to the others.

However... if #1 rides up and requires continual adjusting, i would pass on it. Why keep a garment that isn’t comfortable?

It seems that many of you agree that #2 is too vavavoom for work, which is my main concern too, but I still hope that I can make it work. Adding pictures of the skirt on the model. It is styled more casually than I would wear it, and it does not look too sexy to me on the model.

such a pity about the fabric on 3 but I do get it.

2 is good and I don’t think it is too much.
