K/R - Another trench... - YouLookFab Forum

I actually tried this on back in November or December, but rejected it because I wanted something in more of a stone colour. Then I tried a coat in that colour, and it was not the revelation I expected! I have a pinboard of contenders and was thinking maybe I would be better off with something in Navy, which I know to be flattering.

Then, today, I went to the mall with DH to shop for new work clothes for him. He's been giving his opinion on the many trench coats I've brought home and graciously lent me his eyes for a couple more contenders while we were out. Then we spotted this one at Banana Republic. DH likes it - his major complaint about most of the trenches that I've tried was that they were not fitted enough through the body. I like the fit, which is comfortable across the shoulders, and the ladylike flared hem. What do you think?

The hem is very pretty - the little details make it seem very Burberry-esque.

I like the BR cream trench on you better. It's hard to judge color, since the pics are dark, but fit-wise the BR cream trench seemed better to me. I'm not sure I can explain what it is. This one, it seems like the belt is too low -- though that is easily fixable if you want to take it to the tailor. And could also be the photo angle - in real life I might rule differently. But also I wonder if the buttons are spaced too far apart? You have a very slim frame and I worry that the wide spacing is widening you. Maybe I'm being too picky.

I saw a red trench somewhere in my recent online wanderings. I think it was on 6pm? What do you think about red?

I agree that it's very cute and fits well! The proportions look good, though I too might raise the belt just a smidge.

The only thing is, I'm of two minds about the hem. On one hand, I think it adds a nice line to the coat (I like A-line skirts and dresses, so no surprise that I like this as well) -- maybe this is one reason your husband likes the shape. On the other hand, the practical side of me worries that it'll get dated...but then, I'm the last person to be able to judge what's in and what's out.

I like this quite a bit but feel the same way as Trix about the hemline. I am ultra practical though so bear that in mind. I think you may tire of it.
