K/R - Am I just being nostalgic?

Not sure whether I can still pull off the look of the classic Doc Marten shoe - am I just being nostalgic for the look, the brand, the durability?
I like that these are a go with everything pewter colour, and are a more feminine reworking of the iconic style - its been given a more pointed toe + a lower profile.
Keep or return?

Would you wear them like that with no socks? I don't think I like that look. If you wore socks I'd like it and I like the style. Although I never owned a pair of Doc Martens. By the 90s when I did wear some clompy boots I was a Mum and they probably felt too teenage for me, I never could do grunge!
Think maybe they look too teenage with no socks? But what do I know?

I love them. But I love Doc Martens. I had quite the collection in the 90s. I would buy another pair if I thought they would be comfortable enough (I have lots of foot problems).

I would definitely keep them!!! They are gorgeous on your feet.

Unlike Jenni NZ, I hate socks. I would wear them without socks and appreciate how they look on your feet.

Well I love them (with and without socks), but then I am a fellow Doc Marten wearer. I think they are a classic and appropriate at any age. I do think it is a bit more grown up to go for something different from the classic black docs, I love the colour of these and think that you are likely to find that they go with a lot of clothing. I hope you enjoy wearing yours as much as I love my boots (in finds below).

I have these in dove grey from a year or two ago. I like them best with a narrow cropped ankle trouser and a fem top. They are super comfy, I find them to be a nice modern shoe. Also I don't wear them with socks. Def no. Well, not visible socks! But I've cut some mismatched socks off at the arch and we're those often with oxfords like these. Can't see them but add sock comfort

I love the newer, less clunky versions. I would wear them!

I still have one pair of Docs from maybe 6 years ago --they're not the classic style but a distressed grey combat boot style that's softer and less stompy that the usual Docs. They are ultra-comfortable and I usually wear them for knocking around the ranch, or wearing out to photograph in places I wouldn't wear normal shoes (like junkyards :-).

Those shoes look terrific on your feet. Especially like the way you are wearing them in the photo, without socks and with pants that show the ankle!

Are you happy with the laces?

Is there room for insoles? I would spring for some merino ones, and wear them barefoot.

Can you get wooden shoe trees that fit?

How is the quality?

Nostalgia is a good reason for buying something, as long as it will work hard in your current closet! I wish I'd done Docs back when the quality was consistently excellent. But in school I was already working part time for the company that sponsored my studies, and didn't feel like I could justify purchases of new items that would be strictly casual wear.

Oh, not at all! They look great! I know someone pretty young who wears a burgundy pair in the winter with skirts and looks great. I think they won't go out of style.

Thanks for all the feedback - looks like its an unanimous keep + don't wear socks! It was never about the socks (lol) but more I was questioning whether I could revisit the look (I had already done in the early 90's as a mum with young kids!!) again as someone in my mid 50's!!
I think its all in the attitude + the teenagers shouldn't have all the fun anyway!

They look good on your feet and I see no styling issue. When I read classic docs I was thinking I-dont-remember-how-many-eyelets burgundy rangers : those are connotated docs that remind me of punks/skins.
