K/R -- White jeans & some tops .

Here are some things for which I need guidance!

1-3. Paige jeans. They are off-white. What has me hesitating is that white jeans are impractical. I always stain them, with multiple dogs and ranch living. But I do love these! And they go with so many sandals, even flat sandals. However, I have sold two pairs of premium white jeans on eBay this year, one C/E skinnies the other are 7FAM trousers, sold for 15-25% of cost. Each pair were worn between 1 and 4 times only. Are these going to be another?

4-5. Current/Elliot tencel shirt. Lightweight, I would wear this for work, I could wear it over multiple seasons. It would get a lot of wear.

6-7. Wilt cardi. It's luxe tee shirt material, a quasi-loungewear item for me in a color scheme I wear all the time. However, it might be unflattering.

8-10. Summer sleeveless top. Very practical for my summers, but is the fit an issue?

Denise, I'm wondering why you think cream jeans won't suffer the same fate as your two white pairs? I can really understand being in love with the IDEA of white/cream bottoms. . . .Do you see yourself going on a trip where you might get a lot of use out of these if ranch living doesn't make them practical?

The blue shirt says *ranch* to me all over. How does it fit in the shoulders? I can't tell on my screen.

I'm not an oversized aficionado, so I will let others comment on the cardi.

I think your sneaking suspicions about the sleeveless shirt are justified; you can do better on fit. I have a poison eye for bras showing through armholes, and it doesn't look like switching to another bra will make a difference. I also think the pockets are a bit to large for the style or at least the rest of the garment. I've seen other shirts in this same style sold this season, so your shirt is out there for you to find before it gets hot.

I really like those cream jeans on you. The black piping down the sizes has the neat effect of outlining your figure in the front view, and I like that this detail sets the jeans apart from others. Maybe this will be the difference that gets you to wear them more than previous pairs? Also the fact that they aren't white-white? I think you're right to be wary of another pair of little-worn white jeans. But I had to buy one pair that didn't work out before I found the pair that did work for me.

Tencel shirt--keep. Looks great, especially with your semi-tuck-perfect!

The oversized cardigan is a super style on you. I just wonder if you need or can get a smaller size, just because of where the shoulder seam sits (looking at the back view). It doesn't look quite like an intentionally dropped shoulder, but not quite on your shoulder either.
I'd pass on the sleevelss blouse. The fit isn't quite right--especially at the armhole.

I love love white bottoms in jeans, capris, shorts you name it. Did you sell your white jeans because of the staining issues/concern for dirt? If yes, then these will be the same. But they look fab.

I LOVE the sweater but I love the love of drapey oversize knits.
The sleeveless would work well I think - esp with white jeans :). I like the idea of it but perhaps you might find a better fitting one that pleases you more

Well, I am loving the Tencel shirt here, and agree that it would be a workhorse.
Not so much the white pants if you have had problems in the past with practicality. Also, I find the super-slim shape to be a bit hot on the legs in warmer weather, and my eye is adjusting to slouchy fits these days too.
Enough said already re. the sleeveless top, except to add that the length seems N.Q.R. also- you will find better I am sure.
The sweater is perfect for smart lounge-wear, I like the colour and shape a lot!

Thanks for the detailed feedback so far ladies. The C/Es were always too big in the waist. The 7FAM trouser jeans, well, I just wasn't feeling the trouser style this year. Those were the main reasons I sold them, but it's true I am not a good candidate for white jeans! However I am planning a trip to SF in a few weeks, they would be perfect for the city, providing warmth for the SF chill and looking Spring-like at the same time.

The Wilt sweater was purchased in the smallest size already.

I love the cream jeans on you, but am concerned about the practicality. But maybe a city visit capsule works. Love the chambray shirt. Not so sure on the Wilt cardigan. I don't like the sleeveless shirt.

I'm for returning the jeans - they don't work for enough of your real life imo.
Love the shirt & the colour looks great on you.
I like the idea of the knit. Can you size down? It does look a little big (rather than oversized).
Do you have a tailor - the back & arm on the top are an easy fix. It just needs a couple of darts in the back & the seam running in.

I'm wondering the same thing as Anna - the cream jeans look fab on you and maybe it would be nice to a pair of "good" jeans for when you're not on the ranch? But if you really don't think you'll wear them, then back they go. The tencel shirt is great and I like the Wilt cardigan - it would be great for lounging around but you might want to try one size smaller. The fit of the sleeveless shirt seems off somehow but I can't exactly put my finger on it.

I LOVE the tencel shirt and white jeans!

My wardrobe does not function without white jeans. They make everything look better in Spring and Summer to my eye. And now I wear them year round like Emmanuel Alt. I am VERY pro and biased towards the look!! Although I walk through a dirty city all the time, I don't live on a farm. I hear you on their impractical side. Mine are often washed after one or two wears.

Hmmm. How about you give these one last go.

What Nicole said.... Can you keep them for your leisure time, trips, fun outings? Then it is justified. I steer clear from white and cream clothes but would love a nice pair of white jeans! I would just keep them for fun outings, even if it is only once a month... My life revolves around playdates, parks and playgrounds, none of which is white clothes friendly lol!

Thanks again for the great advice. Against practicality, I am going to keep the cream jeans. They come with a really high happiness factor. I do have a pair of Current/Elliott white bf jeans to compare against, so there may be one more K/R from me (sorry!)

I'll return the sleeveless top, keep the Current/Elliott tencel blouse. Honestly I don't love button down shirts on me but they are perfect for work.

Still on the fence over the Wilt top/cardi...I don't care for the way it's so long on me.

Love the tencel shirt - it's a great colour and silhouette for you. Sleeveless shirt not fab enough for you. O/S sweater - I am kind of meh about - but maybe it would be fab curling up on the sofa, with a nice beverage and some nibblies...

It was very enjoyable to read the discussion about these k/r items. Such wise advice! Just for looks I like the cream jeans and tencel shirt, and if you sold the other white jeans because of non-white jean factors I think it is worth keeping these.

I would pass on the cardi and sleevelss top. I don't think the fit on either of them is right. Might just be me adjusting to slouch on the cardi, but it really looks too big for you.

Love the tendril shirt. I thi k that is a keeper for sure! Fits well, matches your lifestyle. I feel like it will be a workhorse for you.

the jeans. They look so fab. So, so fab on you! But, I doubt you will wear them any more than your other pairs. Even with the issues you had with them, I think you would've worn then a lot more and would have been looking to upgrade so to speak. I love them on you, but I feel like they don't fit your lifestyle.

I was going to say keep the cardi if it's the smallest size--the shoulder issue isn't that big a deal in my mind. But if you're not loving it that's another matter. It is longer than a lot of tops I've seen you post, so it could be a nice change. Or maybe it's just different enough to be uncomfortable!

Love the cream jeans with the piping! Keep them for city wear. The tencil shirt is another keeper. The cardigan is a good silhouette for you and would be a nice addition to your casual/loungewear capsule. I'm not crazy about the fit of the sleeveless blouse. I would hold out for something better.

So, I think I'm with Thistle. I don't think you should keep the jeans, no matter how much you love them now. And you should know that I adore white bottoms (2 pairs of jeans, shorts, skirts, I'm all about white bottoms). I also have two little stain makers (the kiddos) and a big, rambunctious dog.

I think these aren't going to work for you any better than the other two that you sold, and in fact, I think they may be worse. You could always bleach plain white jeans, even if it was bad for the fabric, and take care of stains. That's what has saved me many a time. You won't be able to bleach these. They just seem like a big investment for a likely bad match. And now I am going to run, run as fast as I can, before I get voted off the forum! (But I do have to say, before I go, that they look INCREDIBLE on you!)

MAN those jeans are cool. I'd try them if I weren't on SYC. If you keep them a long time, I think they'd make for a great addition to a city capsule. I LOVE that they are cream and not white.

I also like the tencel shirt, but I think you can do better with the cardi and the sleeveless top.

Yay on the first two, nay on the second two (cardi looks too big, fit issues in the armholes and back on the sleeveless top).

I love white jeans even though they are impractical...as a MOTG, the hems of mine get dragged through the dirt all the time, so they're grey now, but I don't care!

I really like those jeans - but I'm wondering if you considered going up a size? To me, with white/cream jeans, they need to be a little more slouchy (even if they are supposed to be skinnies) as compared to other skinny jeans that we wear. I think I have a poison eye for white/cream skinny jeans so that could be where I'm coming from! I love the tencel blouse - beautiful color on you! And, I love the cardi - love the little details of the notches in the neck - the extra length in the back. I think its really cool - different - and perfect for lounging around! No, on the sleeveless blouse.

I think it makes sense to have at least one pair of white skinnies for going out and about. Agree with your decisions on the Tencel shirt and sleeveless top. I am not crazy about the cardigan. It's just not making sense to me. I think even for loungewear you could find something cuter for adorable you. Also I wanted to mention this shirt in the YLF store. I have it, and it launders really well, and I don't have any issues with gaping despite my nursing-enhanced enormous bosom.

Such wise words! I appreciate the frank comments especially regarding the white jeans, sleeveless top and O/S cardi.

Marley, interesting thought to size up. This is already my bigger size, I usually wear one size smaller in Paige but I was thinking the same thing, these being white jeans. But yes I could try one more size. Have to think about it. Usually I hate the suction sausage look I get with light colored skinny jeans, so I see your point.

Firecracker -- I love your point about the Wilt top being longer than my usual, making me feel uncomfortable. That would almost make me want to keep this, as I do feel I am stuck in this repeat mode with all of my clothes and shopping. Very stuck in my comfort zone presently.

And Goldenpig, I had to laugh at your comment about your white jeans being grey and dragged on the ground but not caring! Now that is the right attitude to take about white jeans.

K Can Shop -- Thanks for your frank opinion, your words are very much my wiser side speaking! The wise me: "you don't need this," or "it doesn't fit your lifestyle." The over-shopper me: "you love it," and "you could wear it to _________(name single event or place)."

I love the jeans on you, however I do think the practicality is a big consideration. I bought white jeans and I have worn them twice that I can think of! I worry that I am going to mark them when I am wearing them and have to spend the rest of the day in them:(

The tencel shirt fits your style and I love that colour on you. I see this working well for you.

The Wilt cardi is the type of garment I always love on the hangar but not so much on the person. I love the tones, the oversizedness and the drape but I just don't feel it translates as well when being worn. It reads as a little to shapeless and overwhelming.

The Wilt top is simply not a good enough fit, you could find better.

I think white jeans are only impractical if you are comparing them to blue jeans which hide a host of mess easily. If you think of them as a different entity, they are pretty easy to look after. I wear mine a lot, and harldy ever get anything on them that doesn't come out with napisan or vanish soaker or whatever. Ok I do have to wash them lots more than blue jeans but I still wear them quite fw times before I wash them. The only thing I couldnt get off until after a few soaks was bird poo [after the birds had eaten some kind of purple fruit]. that I sat on, on a park bench.
I guess my white jeans are my favourite item at the moment. They seem really modern for winter and make my old black jeans look outdated.

I am so glad too that you are keeping the cream jeans because you look absolutely gorgeous in "white on white". I find my white jeans, being denim, are dirt repellent, so I easily get a couple of days wear out of them before they have to go in the wash. Every now and then they need a dose of Napisan, that's true. I haven't tried this myself, but you could try spraying the cream jeans with Scotchguard, that's a waterproofing product for fabric. That might help keep them clean.

I am very late to the party here (apologies....on the run yesterday) but I wanted to stop in and say a couple of things. First, everyone agrees on the gorgeous tencel shirt -- I love the drape and the colour on you. In fact, I would really like one of these myself. My denim shirt is one I love in theory but less in practice precisely because it doesn't drape. At all.

I love the jeans on you. I do think it might be worth trying another size up just for comparison's sake. That way you can decide what fit you want. They might not work as a slouchier pant due to the piping. Regardless, these ones look amazing on you, you are radiant in white, and I think you should keep!

True, it may seem impractical. But Agnes raises an excellent point. It's only impractical in comparison to other (darker) jeans, not in comparison to anything else you might wear.

Also, for myself, I've realized that I really do need a smart-casual (city wear) and casual-casual (work at home) capsule and while there is overlap, they are two different things. I know in the past you've said you shopped "too much" for your smart casual and not enough for the life you lead most of the time. And I have this problem too, to an extent. But the thing is, the smart casual is where the need for something that doesn't fall into the usual "uniform" or "formula" lies. It's where we need something a bit different, something that's more of a statement. And where we have fun!

Point three: it can take time to get used to wearing white jeans. I got mine last spring. Wore them maybe five or six times (not all that happily) and then it was summer so I put them away with a bit of relief (too hot). Then I pulled them out at Angie's insistence and tried them in the early autumn. Lo and behold, I was liking them a lot more by then. In fact, I really liked them! And -- hunh???? -- I found myself even pull them out in winter a couple of times to my great shock. And now I am really looking forward to wearing them in our (short spring) once again. So they may not be the most worn item in my jeans capsule, but they play an important and valuable role. I've worn them more than my bootcuts so far this year.

You're already sorted on the sleeveless top. I'm not wild about the cardigan unless it really fills a desperate need.
