K/P Help me with this top please!

I have this top for a year now (a gift) and I haven't used it even once. It is a bit dramatic, overly girly and I don't find the sleeve length and elasticized mid section flattering at all! To top it all, brown/shades of brown do not suit me near my face, too matchy matchy to my skin tone. But I would like to have the opinion of you all to see if I can work this out and learn to like it. More than anything I am stumped on styling ideas!

I have tried 3 different combinations with 1) Flared skirt 2) Tube skirt 3) Slim fit cropped pants and leopard print flats (I would have preferred solid brown/nude sandals but I don't own any).

Does any of this outfit combinations work? Keep or Purge?

I am not liking that shirred midsection either. I like the neckline though. How about under a jacket so that is all you can see?

hmmm, i going to say purge. granted i don't know very well, but from what you have posted, this doesn't seem your style at all.

I was secretly hoping everyone voted "purge"! I had already pushed it at the bottom of my closet anyways!

You are right kkards. That top doesn't suit my style. Too fussy, frilly and overwhelming on my body!

@anne - I do not have a very long neck and that frilled neckline together with a collared jacket might be just too much on me. Although it would help hide the weird mid-section!

I think I would go with purge!

Purge! The colour isn't the problem in my opinion, but the frilly front has got to go! Old lady librarian look, grandma's closet...whatever you wanna call it, that cut is not good on anyone. But I do think the colour is nice on you, from here it looks like a pale pink or nude colour, which is more complimentary to your skin tone, in my opinion.

Purge away! It does't seem to suit your style. I can see it on a different person, but if you don't love it, let it go. Unless it will be hurting someone's feelings. That is always the issue with gifts. argh.

I say Purge!

However, before you purge, I would like you to try something- Maybe cut the sleeves off and pair it with a high waisted black/ very dark skirt that is snug on the top and flared at the bottom, or perhaps a very well fitted pencil skirt (but I think the only colour that will go with it is black).

Way too many strikes against it! Plus, it looks uncomfortable. Hope you don't see the giver often, and he/she hasn't asked about it. I would purge.

I was given three long ruffly crocheted scarves; they must be the fad in a certain ethnic community. The colors are nice, but otherwise they make me feel like a clown! I see one of the givers a couple times a year, and the other one I'm quite fond of. Sigh.

The top is a gift but not from someone close. We don't meet often either. So, I don't mind purging.

I think I will go with purge as I don't seem to be able to like the top! It might suit a different body type with a more defined waist.
