knee high boots in the spring?

I'm going to a lecture this evening with a friend who is very excited and wants to make an evening of it, go to dinner, and get dressed up - which for her means we both wear dresses. Dressy shoes are a gaping hole in my wardrobe. I have sandals and I have boots that are comfy and dressy, but not shoes. The temps today are supposed to reach a high of 72, partly cloudy, rather breezy. Do you think I can get away with knee high boots and bare legs? I think sandals and bare legs will be too chilly.

Are your boots a color other than black? The lighter the better.

You should wear whatever makes you feel fab and confident. That will be noticed more than what you have on your feet.

I think so, yes. I wear tall white boots with no tights all the time in the spring, provided I know it's not going to be too warm. In fact I only wear those boots with no tights because for some reason the zipper on the left boot always shreds the tights on my right leg.

Anyway, it helps that the boots are not black, like Joy said. If you have brown or tan boots, it will look just fine.

I think lighter boots are better, but I always go for what keeps me warm. So very hard to have a good time if you are cold!

Yes, I think it will look fine! As long as the boots are not lined in fur or something like that... which would probably be too hot anyway.

I wear my lighter knee high boots through May through temps in the low 70s. I'd suggest pairing with a mix of all-season and spring fabrications to keep it looking intentional.
