I love the way you have styled this and it's uniqueness. Hang on to it for awhile to see how you feel in it. Since it's wool, that may be this winter. It depends on where your style is going.

Hang on to it for awhile Rae - and see if it works for you and also how you feel in it. It's a really cool jacket - but I know what you mean about wearing more classic pieces these days. I'm doing the same thing - and have several items in my closet that are unique, quirky, fun - that I'm just not "feeling" right now! So, no need to make an immediate decision, right?

Sorry to weigh in late, Rae. I have a few deadlines and my time on the forum has been sparse over the last few days. I have not read the comments, but FWIW:

KILLER Jacket!!!

Such '80s rocking sassy fabness! I love the strong shoulders. You knew I would love it on you xo

Edgy! Plus the way you style it makes it even better! You should totally own this jacket and use it everyday.

(Plus I side with Janet: you say Klingon like it's a bad thing. Tsk, tsk, tsk: shame on you. Hehehe!)

I freakin' LOVE it, and I am so jealous, I swear my eyes are green right now! Awesome cool sci-fi jacket that NOBODY else has??!! And you look so awesome in it!! Total jealousy!!

Seriously, where is this magical Goodwill or thrift shop located? They run a brisk trade in 'unicorn' pieces...

It looks fabulous on you. I say keep it till your hair grows (if in fact you are still growing it out). I say this because the only time I ever felt uncomfortable with my strong shoulders was when I cut my hair super short. So it's just an idea for easing into the piece! But it looks amazing already.

I agree with Janet I think the shoulders look architectural rather than big/bulky - YLF.

Oh, and I also wish we had such a magical Goodwill. The ones around here have no such gems.

Love it! I can't believe Joy posted in Klingon. WHat a crazy forum!

I'm echoing Mary's AREYOUKIDDINGMERIGHTNOW? I'm no Trekkie, so all I see is an Japanese kimono influence. You look very long and lean (not square) with the midi skirt, with all kinds of good waist definition. You don't look line-backerish at all. I'm about as classic as they get, but seeing an S/A in this wouldn't scare me AT ALL. I really love it on you.

So Angie has spoken. Keeper? Styling options? Capsules it will fit into?

Totally worth keeping! If you tend towards classic items lately this jacket is a perfect thing to keep them fro looking too predictable- kind of RWP (Refined Warrior Princess).
BTW do Klingons have warrior princesses?

Sveta, Klingons only have warrior princesses. lol Pretty sure they only have warrior everythings.

For those who asked where I shop, I actually almost NEVER go to Goodwill anymore. I find them far overpriced. I go to little flea markets that set up at local colleges and revamped drive-in theaters. Those who have come to Shoptoberfest have witnessed the madness: card tables piled high with all sorts of random items... I sift through one by one!

Ok, so here is the plan: I am keeping it around to try it out and puzzle through whether it is simply "out of my comfort zone" or "not me." I'll try to play up the kimono aspect somehow and see how it goes. I do like it with the neutrals to try to keep the color scheme classic, even if the jacket isn't.

And if it doesn't work for me, I know where to go!

I love that blazer/jacket. Seriously. If anyone can pull off being a Klingon Kick Ass Warrior Girl, it's you. It looks so awesome with your short hair

Just as long as you don't wear it with a metal corset. Not work appropriate!

Squee! I bow down to you, O great Klingon princess! You are killing me with your dollar UWP fab finds!

Your subject lines are the best ever.

Yes, the jacket is a bit Klingon, but in a good way. I like it on you a lot.

I remember many years ago working in a clothing store and finding a jacket that looked very Ferengi...and not in a good way. Still, I wish I had bought it, just for costuming purposes. Well, to lend to someone else for *their* costuming purposes most likely.
