Kit & Ace T-shirt mini review

I received my K/A t-shirts yesterday.
I got the 'haven long sleeve' in white and black in size 2 and 4 to compare sizes.
They are made of the 'Technical Cashmere' . It looks like they actually have 2 versions of the Technical Cashmere: one that's mostly modal and one that's mostly viscose. I got the viscose.

Here are some observations:
1. The size charts on the K/A site are correct for me. My bust is 33" which puts me at a 4 and the 4 was indeed better than the 2. (I'm a 2/XS in Banana Republic and J Crew for reference.) The 2 is still ok though.
2. The fabric is very very very thin - see pic 2. You can't just wear a nude bra under a white top, IMO. You'll have to wear a cami.
3. The fabric is very soft. Softer than viscose. I like it.
4. The fabric is very stretchy and a little clingy - more stretchy./clingy than a regular drapey viscose T. The clinginess is mitigated if you get the boyfriend fit or the west coast fit.
5. Packaging is over-the-top, as ummlila mentioned in a previous thread. The box had a magnetic closure. See pic 1.
6. Very good coverage of the derriere. The issue is it's a bit clingy so I'm still not sure I'd pair this particular 'boyfriend fit' as they call it with leggings. I would want something looser.

Free returns in Canada - great news!

I ordered these at full price in order to get an idea of size. I'll be returning them and ordering some final-sale items. They'll get my magnetic closure box back, which hopefully they'll reuse--what a crying shame if they don't!

Thanks for the review Smittie - I've never heard of this brand before; I'll have to investigate! It's SO hard to find a white t-shirt that doesn't require a cami underneath, isn't it? I feel like this is the million-dollar Amazon store idea ... all white t-shirts that aren't see-through!!

Ha, then K&A in white is MOST definitely not for you, Elle

Personally, I'm ok with wearing a cami since my office is cold!
Also, if I'm out and about with the kids in summer, I've got a bathing suit or gear under it so it's ok for my lifestyle.

I just got the Sweet Scoop l/s tee in gray and it is also on its way in black. I ordered size 4 -- my normal size -- and they fit fine, but I probably should have taken your testing approach, Smittie. These are final sale so I am keeping them, but I won't be wearing the gray on its own as it's a bit too clingy to the rollie bits in my midsection. I'm thinking maybe a 6 next time. Even still, these will be great for in the house, as an underlayer, and as loungewear. And the black might possibly work on its own or under the right jacket.

On the other hand, they are super soft, have nice long sleeves and are apparently of overall great quality -- supposedly they don't shrink which is key for me. Most l/s tees don't fit my arms after one wash.

Thanks for such a great the review! I was just recently introduced to K&A from the forum and have been on the fence about the Prevost turtleneck. I think I will order it now since I have a better idea of sizing.

The one I tried was white and ecru, needed a camisole under and highlighted the 'rollie bits" on me.

I am enjoying my York and Mulberry pants.

I'll bet they reuse those nice boxes and that's why you get the envelope included in which to return them. Such nice packaging.

Oh - you have the Mulberry pants! I had looked at those. What's the sizing like there, Lisa? TTS or not?

I find the pants sizing like LuluLemon. The Mulberry pants themselves have a wide, high waistband -- snug in a good pull-you-in way. They are fairly close fitting in the bum, and loose pretty much everywhere else. I found them to be a particularly appealing choice in the holiday indulgence season. If it's helpful to see a pic of how I look in them I can post.

I"m wearing the York pant right now in fact, with a K&A sweater too! My current favourite winter outfit. I"d like to get another pair of Yorks in black - I have navy. And yes, packaging is stupid - even in store. At Christmas, they gave you your purchases in a great looking grey felt bag with a rose gold metal logo, and ribbon tie closure . The SA offered me two of them because I had spent a bit on that trip to the store (for every $200 you spent you got one of these bags) and was so shocked when I turned down the second bag. Who needs more bags? And nice, but what a waste of resources. Anyways - the t-shirts i have are the west coast or boyfriend fits for the very reason you mentioned . If there is one thing I can't stand, it's a clingy sheer-ish t-shirt.

Sheer clingy tops --I don't think I could think of anything worse! Like a sausage casing for the upper body! Lol

I know - and exactly who looks good in those things?

I think even the models are sucking it in on the website!

Lisa and Lisa: can you post WIWs in the pants/sweater?

Sure - I'll try to do one soon., but I've had that combo on a few times recently and they need a rest. Not sure the pants are going to look like much in a photo either - pretty plain. My only word of warning is - I'm 5'5 (and apparently getting shorter by the minute) and even in the big size I take, they are just above ankle length . One needs higher shaft boots,or sneakers to wear with these.

When I am in LA for work next week, there is a K&A store that is a 9-minute walk from my hotel. I'm both excited and nervous about that!
