Vivian - the one pair of pants I have - the one with all the zippers and buckle-y things - are regular woven wool blend "dress pants". They are fairly light weight, and wonderful to wear. I haven't been wearing them this winter though as they are cropped, and I don't have the right outdoor footwear that really works with them. They really look best with a shoe and a bare ankle and foot. The knit pants are absolutely work-appropriate. They are a very heavy ponte-like fabric if that makes sense, but much better quality than the average ponte knit. These are good with flat boots/shoes /sneakers.
The concept behind the stores is that they integrate themselves within the local (artistic) community by using art produced by that city's artists, fixtures for the stores are made by local craftsmen, flowers, food etc by local shops, and often throw Sunday night communal table dinners (quite chi chi affairs) in the shops for locals/hipsters. They change up the merchandise often, and don't repeat a lot of pieces. Once something is sold out from the store - that's it. They like to support local (and I mean from the neighbourhood they have the store in) causes and events - all that sort of thing. A one-stop hipster shop, as it were. Although I have to say the clothes aren't hipster at all - in fact I love pretty much everything I see. Can I wear a lot of it? No - because there is a lot of body-con stuff going on, but I've had good luck there so far! Quality is about exactly where it should be for the price - some pieces aren't worth what they are priced at , but most are.
