Kick flares - please help on fit and length

I decided to go home and try the size 4 Halogen kick flares again. Maybe they are the correct size? I'm not really sure. I over exposed these photos hoping you could see them. (Please excuse the dirty mirror and crazy hair, I blame my kids fully.) And then what about the length? The first group of pictures is the length as is and in the last picture I folded up the hem once. I really have to think hard if these deserve a place in my closet. I have 5 black bottoms from NAS that I'm concidering.

I think they look very big on you. It seems to me that this style should be fitted everywhere except the flare.

I think the fit looks good! At first, I thought they were too loose, but I think I was seeing mirror smudges as wrinkles. The fit looks smooth, as I think it should be.
As to length, I'm not quite sure. But I would say a tad shorter. Maybe not the full turn you've done in 5.

I like the length in the last two photos. The cut and fit are flattering, but I don't know how they're supposed to fit. Are you worried that they're too big or too small?

I kept trying to clean my phone screen They look odd/baggy around the knees , especially in the back. I think I see them as Ummlila does - way too big . I would think they are to be worn quite fitted to the knee , and then flared out from there, no?

Sorry about the mirror. Note to self to go clean it. I was worried about them being too small in the rear/thighs. But I didn't even take notice that they're loose at the knees.

Don't feel so bad about the mirror--I was glad you mentioned it in your post, because it made me look closer to realize I had misinterpreted what I initially saw! (I have a mirror that looks like yours, too, and no kids. I think mine's just a cheap mirror--it doesn't even clean up nice!)

The pants look large in the thighs. I think the length, however, looks good.

I think they look a little big both in the thigh and knee areas. But maybe what I'm seeing is just from the smudges on the mirror. How do they feel? I think they should be shorter, like in the last picture.

Look good shorter. I felt mine were too tight in the thighs an butt and felt like work out pants. It's probably just personal preference tho.

There's nothing wrong here, but how do you feel in them? Do you like them better than your other black choices? If so, you can totally make them work. Otherwise, I would listen to what your internal voice is saying. I think they look ok, maybe could wow me if styled differently. But in all honesty, I've seen outfits from you I like better. It doesn't look to me like you need to go up in size.

These look to baggy in the knee for what my eye expects from this style, to get thd spunky kicky look. Too much overlap with routine capris. .
Also to me, they are running long on everyone who has shown them, again, according to what I " expect" for this style.
Maybe this is a style evolution? Maybe these are not to be kick- flares but a shortened pant?
Still I think you need either a smaller size or a different brand.

Hmmm, as I understand it, these pants are not a crop kick flare, like the Joie, they are a kick flare ankle pant. Different animal. These have a bit looser leg, much more subtle flare and longer length, (but I think you can shorten them to achieve the look you want). Look at the length and flare on the model. And you saw how great they looked IRL on Marianna. I think mine fit like yours, but it is really hard to tell from our pictures.

Oh the fun begins.

My first thought was -- something is going wonky at the knees.

Is that because they are a bit loose, or because they are a bit long, or because they are too long in the thigh, i.e. knee break isn't in the right place?

If 1 or 2, then that is fixable by sizing down or hemming to where you like. If it's a problem about the placement of the knee break, that is trickier.

I like them, at least I like them in theory...but...hard to tell. Can you style with the footwear you'd wear with them as well?
