As much as I adore YLF, I do check out other blogs (once in a while), too : )

I sent Kendall Farr a question -- about wearing kitten heels -- through her blog and she used it in this week's "Ask Kendall." What do y'all think of her response?

I think her response is going to give Angie an apoplexy. it certainly gave me one. Ankle length AND pleated?!

Ms. Farr should stop by NYC one day. Loads of gals in flats, kitten heels, and 2" chunky heels, and mysteriously it is still considered a very stylish city.

: ) Let's say that I'm curious to see what Angie and the rest of you have to say when you weigh in on this question.

I don't think Kendall suggested that other heel heights or shapes weren't fashionable; she was simply giving her response to a question I posed about what silhouettes work best with kitten heels.

I’m so happy for you, Mac! That’s great. You know that I adore Kendall Farr! (And rest assured, most people on this forum read several blogs and often quote from them right here).

I read the answer a few times, and your question a few times actually. Well, Kendal and I will respectfully disagree about the ankle length pants suggestion. The mid-calf circle skirt worn with a kitten heel makes sense. It’s how they wore them in the 50’s and it looked fab.

I will also say that I wear kitten heels with everything – clams, skirts, skinnies, dresses and pants. It looks flattering to my eye.

Mac, I just meant that in general, most stylists advise going as high in the heel as you can stand it (and that the higher you go, the more flattering).

"A lower heel like the kitten is not as flattering as the leg-lengthening illlusion one gets from a higher heel."

I just happen to disagree. So much depends on how high a "high" heel is, how big your feet are, how long your legs are, etc. Like Angie, I like the 50's-ish suggestion she made. I don't think lower heels necessitate more leg coverage.

Thanks, Angie! I think that maybe it's just a matter of me not being used to seeing kitten heels with clothes i'm used to seeing with other heights & shapes of heels. As you would say, it could just take a bit of time and effort to "adjust my eye" to this new look.

I liked your question for this reason, I do not know the how or why for kitten heels. I'd rather they just left off the little heel and left the shoe as a flat.
I liked her answer because she gave a scenario where a kitten heel would be the center of attention on the lower half of the body, therefore giving a reason to wear them.

The calf , or tea length 50's skirt and kitten heels seems right to me. I actually love that length skirt with a short heel.

That's how I envision kitten heels, Bella (and both those boots and those pumps are fantastic). Some people refer to all low heels as "kitten heels" (and since "low" is a relative term, sometimes 2.5" heels are referred to as "kitten" height). But whenever I think of them, I immediately think of Audrey Hepburn's shoes in Breakfast at Tiffany's in her divine little cocktail dress.

I love Kendalls Packet Stylist, but little OT, talking about things that are flattering on persons body, my questions would be about 2 examples, long tunic/dress, straight jeans, flat shoes versus kitten heels and ankle pants. In my opinion, second option would give you better body and leg elongation, but yet the first option is very in on ylf, so I'm little confused about the whole subject!?

Ok, good that's what I thought. In that case, I really don't see what the problem is. I am 100% with Angie. Wear them with anything you want!

Also, are they really making a comeback?

PS: Maya, I picked those pictures completely at random, but I agree both pairs are awesome.

I don't think there is anything to be confused about Renata. If something looks better to your eye, it doesn't really matter what anyone else says! I can't see short or cap sleeves the way Angie does. It's just how my brain is wired and how my aesthetic has developed. It's ok to disagree. Angie hasn't kicked me off yet for saying I like short sleeves and tapered ankle length pants
