I loved this sweater jacket when I saw it on the LL Bean website:

Review after review said to size up, because it runs sooooo small, but I finally got it in the mail today and -- correct me if I'm wrong -- it seems pretty darn big on me. I really like the color, and the quality and weight seem about right for what I wanted... what do you guys think?

too big! Maybe it runs small relative to LLBean's normal sizing, but that sizing is itself big? Do they have a smaller size?

It doesn't really look too big when buttoned. It's a little boxy when open, but I'm not sure it's a style that should be ultra-fitted.

Do they sell a smaller size that you could try?

Great color - great style! I much prefer the look as it fits on you, rather than on the model. I would keep, and start building some outfits around it!

There is an XS, which is what I usually wear in most jackets and in J. Crew button-front shirts. This is my very first LL Bean purchase. It looks WAY more fitted on both models in their promo pics.

Hm, tough call. Trying it on again, I noticed that there is a lot of extra fabric under the arms, which kind of bunches up when I move about. Plus, I think I would mostly wear it open, so the "too big" votes are weighing heavily on me. I measured, and it is a full two inches wider than most of my cardigans...

Leaning toward exchanging for the XS, since it got a good response overall. Thanks for the input!

It probably just depends how you want it to fit. When I was found a plaid shirt, I had to buy it in 2 sizes because it was described as "oversized" and I wanted it to be more fitted. I ended up keeping the XS. That's probably what's going on here. It sounds like you would prefer a snugger fit rather than a boxy one.

However some things just don't look right when you try to wear them in a way that you're not meant to. In that case it's better to just pass.

Gorgeous! If you order smaller, can you keep this for comparison? I actually love it as it is and it looks good on your shoulders. FWIW, I vote keep!

I LOVE this - but for my personal preference I would probably go down a size. You definitely have found a great color for you - and it is so cool the way the touches of black show up when you roll up the sleeves and open up the collar. Thanks for posting! Can't wait to see how you style it (once you've decided on your size!)

Without looking at responses I like it in #2 due to the contrast on the cuff. In #1 the sleeves hit in a place that makes it look boxy overall. Is is true tomato red? It looks almost chinese red or orangey on my screen.

I really love it just the way it is on you, Rae. Such a cute jacket with the black detailing on the sleeves. It's also an amazing colour on you, wow. And it looks beautiful with that striped top underneath too.

I like the way the black shows around the collar and cuffs, it feels a tad Chanel to me. I don't have a problem with boxy but if you can get it in a smaller size, you might try for comparison's sake. I like big and boxy, but I may be alone. Sometimes it just feels good to wear something loose and it also exudes a sort of casual, carefree confidence to me.
