I ordered this top from BR because it’s an elevated form of one of my winter favorites, a flannel shirt.

1 and 2 are size small, 3 and 4 are size medium. Both sizes are very similar in fit in the front, with the big difference being longer sleeves on the medium (too long).

I would have said the size small was better until I saw the photo of the back view. The medium isn’t much bigger in the body in the front, it is bigger in the back, and I can fold up and cuff the sleeves or tuck them under. What do you think? Keep one, return both? For reference, the BR stock photo is the last pic.

My thoughts are based on pic 3 which seems to flow best in the back.
I agree the sleeves can be rolled up as in 3 and 4.Lovely topper !

Probably size M is better option - for the flow of the fabric and the possible shrinkage. It is a lovely top - fun and unexpected.

I think the M is too big.

I prefer the smaller size despite the back folds. So the first pic! I think it looks sharper all round. Better in the front and in these sleeves. I don’t mind the back fit IF it’s a comfortable fit and you’re not tugging at the back. Because the sleeves are folded, the folding in the back works with the style!

Oh, what a fun top! I love this on you!

BR is really hitting it out of the ballpark this year. Lots of interesting dramatic tops and nicer knitwear than in recent years. But the tops in particular are very cool. LisaP got some great ones in the summer.

I think on balance I prefer the small. Is the shirt flannel? If so, that would explain the slight "grabbiness" with the back on denim. Try it with some other pants and see if it does the same thing. And let it hang out overnight and then try again with the jeans. I have a feeling it might behave itself better then.

I like it on you Karie, not sure which size is better, they’re not that different? I think initially I preferred the bigger size but have now been influenced by Angie’s opinion, LOL.

I often have the same problem and more often than not I will regret buying the bigger size, as even not much bigger but still bugging me if the fit of the front is not quite there. The fit of the back is also very important but if doen't feel uncomfortable (because it can! especially when underarms are snug, or so...) then I would buy the smaller size for myself. In fact, at the moment I have the same dillemma with a blush/old rose baby cord shirt...still debating which size to commit for...

Hard to tell from the photos really, but the small definitely looks good from the front perspective. Can't see the issues in the back though. Fun drama with the bold sleeves.

Oh, what a fun top! It looks really good on you. I prefer the fit of the smaller size. I see what you mean about the back, but it doesn’t bother me — it looks like something that just happens with movement. I would make sure it doesn’t seem likely to shrink in the wash though, if you have any doubt.

The small definitely looks good from the front but that back would bother me personally. I do often have to deal with sleeves that are too long so maybe I am just more used to that issue. Cute shirt. Maybe go with whichever feels best on. I agree with Janet, check on whether it may shrink too.

I would keep it, and since this shirt seems to be about volume, the medium. It falls better. Very distinctive!

I keep seeing this top on my sm feeds, and do admire it. I'm not a fan of of the fit in the back in the size small, but also see Angie's point that it might not be a deal breaker. I think it has to be a personal comfort choice.

I think sleeves and they are the main point in this shirt, look better in a smaller size. I have a short torso and some of my tops fold at the back, similar to your size S. It doesn’t bother me, sizing up is not always a better option.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to try it on again with pants I will probably wear it with. I just threw it on with what I was wearing yesterday, and those jeans are on their way to the back of the closet - I’m currently refreshing my jeans capsule with some more current styles. I just bought a pair of wide legs today at Loft and I have a pair of straight legs coming from BR. I will try it on with those, and with a few non-denim pants before deciding.
