Keep/Purge - YouLookFab Forum

I did a big closet clean out this afternoon. I took out a lot of superfluous junk, to be donated or sold to the thrift shop. Please shoot me if I buy any more t-shirts!!!

A couple of things that I debated

I loved this outfit when I got it - I bought from a designer friend for a wedding and felt fab at the time but I don't love it anymore. In fact, looking at the pic, I really don't think I like it at all. I have purged.
This top is in great condition, but I don't think it's me.
4. & 5. OK - this is all about the skirt...Does this work at all? I love the swishyness of the skirt, but I really don't know how to style it. I am going to an outdoors baby naming ceremony next Monday morning and I thought this skirt might work... just don't really know how to style it!

For the swishy skirt I suggest tucking in the white tank and you're done(keep the denim jacket on, if possible with sleeves scrunched a bit:-)). When so much volume on lower half the usually top half looks better clingy or at least tailored, even if it's then topped with a blazer or so.
The top in nr 2 depends on your print prefferences. I'm not really a fan of it, but not that bad either.
Nr 1 is a bit too unstructured to my eyes, even if it would have bee qualified for a very different and arty(?) outfit-but still, not really flattering-and maybe dated too---I say you did well purging:-).

I would donate #1.

I like 2& 3 on you. I definately see the skirt as fitting your style. But, if you don't feel fab in it, donate!

I think #2 is a bit more a departure for you, but the bright floral colors are on trend, and it is flattering. Again, if you don't feel fab, donate, as you won't reach for it.

If it doesn't make you feel great, then donate it.

For the skirt, I like lyn67's idea of tucking in the tank top. Do you have a more fitted top? That could work as well.

Is #1 anything you could use for loungewear? That has been suggested in other threads. I "third" tucking the white tank into the skirt.

I'll try a tuck and see what it looks like - I'm generally so hesitant to tuck clothes in, but I could perhaps see it working with this. The other two (1&2) I ffeel quite comfortable with purging - definitely not me anymore, not even for loungewear.

Hil: I think trying a tuck, and maybe a belt might be great. Do you own any wedge shoes or sandals? They'd be a natural with this skirt. The shoes you're wearing are cute, though, no need to switch them out.

I conquer with the others on a more fitted top. Tuck or perhaps cinch with a thicker obi or elastic type belt....something to give more structure and fit up top.

Thanks for the belt tip - I will try this on later with a wide belt and a tuck. I doi have some brown wedge sandals which I can try too. Awesome ideas!

I feel the skirt is kind of blah for you and rather agree about the shirt.

#1 I just love, but I think it was a wise decision to purge. Unless you go to a lot of gallery openings...

Rachylou - 1 & 2 have been relegated to the purge pile - 1 had it's time in my wardrobe, but I don't love it anymore and 2 - well I never really loved it... I am still on the fence about the skirt. I will try a couple of options and if I cant get it to work, then off it goes...

To me, the swishy skirt looks dated. I say donate.

I actually personally really dig the blouse in pic 2. But if you don't feel it, then toss. However, before doing so, I suggest trying it on with various pieces and noting what it is that doesn't work. Is is the shape? Is it the length? Is it how it looks under a topper?

The outfit in pic 1 is cute! But if you don't love it any more, then I agree, moving on is the best option.
