Keeping artfully distressed jeans hole-free?

I just got these Citizens rocket crop jeans, though I hadn't been planning on any more released hems. I like the cut and color ("miramar") a lot so I went for it.

I'm worried that I will wear through the distressing because it's right at the knee and takes pressure when I sit.

Anyone have good ideas? Those iron-on patches from the 70s, put on the inside? That would probably look stiff, though.

Possibly iron on interfacing fabric? No the stiff kind used in mens' suit jackets, but something softer? It's been a few years since I have done any sewing, but as I remember there were several different types of interfacing available.

Oh those are nice jeans - and they are super flattering on you . And i'm with you, enough of the let-down hems already (as I sit here wearing a pair myself) .....but those are indeed worth keeping. Patches - eh, maybe leave it if and when you actually need it - oh, I see, on the inside to prevent wear-through. I agree - interfacing might be the perfect solution. But you might find you like the wear-through once it happens and end up wearing them casually like that!

I would leave it alone until it rips and then think about putting another piece of blue or grey fabric on the back.

I love the let down hems - they make the cropped look for me, although finding a 22" length is impossible! I would try interfacing or even a print fabric you like that will look cute peeking out. The important thing is to contain the edges of the distressing with some kind of reinforcement.

You look amazing in those jeans. I would leave the distressing. My Fidelity jeans are almost 2 years old and the distressing is hanging in. No holes.

I've never had the problem you're anticipating but fixing them before they break might introduce new issues. Interior support might stiffen the knees and also eventually become visible as wear lines.

I wash all my jeans on delicate cycle or even hand wash with lingerie wash, lukewarm water, cool rinse, and then hang dry with a few minutes in the dryer just to soften them a little. I clean all of my clothes very gently and they last very well.

I think I'd just treat them as though they're a little fragile and hope for the best, they look great, enjoy them.

I tried the interfacing and the jeans still ripped at the knee. I applied an iron on patch to the inside of the jeans and am very happy with the result so far. They still look distresses, the patch doesn't show and there's no apparent hole.

I don't know about sewing or patches, but I would suggest that you be sure you are sitting down when you put those on so you can carefully guide your foot through the leg -- maybe even wearing socks.
