Keep, Return, Exchange? Colour and Opacity Questions

So I ordered a bunch of banana republic tops in cocoon...

and am pretty disappointed with how sheer they all are! I was hoping to find a pretty sleeveless top that I wouldn't have to wear a cami under. The problem is that I absolutely adore the texture, cut and back zipper detail of the zigzag lace shell. I wonder if perhaps I should exchange for taupe or black? Or wear with a nude bra or cami underneath?

The other question I have is regarding this hot pink pleat shoulder tank c/o old navy. The cut is high enough in the front and arm holes, but I suspect that it is too big overall and am not sure about the colour.

Love the off-white blouse, but it's WAY TOO SHEER without a cami or some other underlayer. Black might work, but I suspect it's also going to be very sheer. Are you planning to wear a blazer with it? I'm guessing you can see your naval in the mirror through that blouse!

Hi Anna - Yeah, I know, and yes, you can It makes me sooo sad. I might wear a cardigan but I'm not a blazer wearer.

With a cami underneath, the off white top is beautiful Emily. And I love it tucked into the pencil skirt. I like the pink one untucked but not as much tucked in.

Pop a cream camisole underneath, it's really lovely on you! The pink could work as a breezy, casual top.

I like both tops -- the cream particularly. To me, it's cami worthy, particularly as you've styled it with the pencil skirt. It could easily "dress down," too!

Bummer about the sheer zig-zag cami, that's so frustrating. I think it would be worth it with a cami, it's a gorgeous pattern and fit. Not as sure about the pink top, it does look a little big.

First one is lovely on you with a cami. I would say worth it. The pink is pretty but maybe not special enough? Depends on your immediate needs and the price point.

I think a cami is worth considering unless you'd wear a cardi on top or even a shirt over it, knotted at waist nut open --- in which case you may be able to get away with a good nude bra. (See Ana's post today where she's topped off a lace blouse with a little denim sleeveless jacket too.) As to camis, I don't think they *have* to be nude --- you could emphasize the sheerness and have a little fun with a bright colour (like the pink of your second top) under there too.

The pink doesn't look too big to me, so if you like the colour a lot and the price is good... maybe keep?

Thanks all - I have decided to keep the cream top (to be worn with appropriate underpinnings) and return the pink.

That is one of my biggest frustrations shopping for spring/summer tops. If I want something sleeveless and cool for warm weather, the last thing I want is something that requires another layer for the sake of decency!

I hope it works out for you with a cami because it is very cute.
