Keep, return, alter?: halogen seamed skirt in orange

I am tired and not yet dressed this morning, but I wanted to get this photo up in case I need to return, as I'm going near Nordstrom this morning. The color of the skirt is much brighter than I can get it to look in the pictures - it's a true orange.

Given the midi craze, should I hem, leave alone, or return? I love the color and can see it working with a greys and other brights, but I do not feel comfortable with the tucked look - it that too limiting.

Also, there is not really a dog bone sticking out of my calf. That Kona - she never picks up her toys.

Brutal feedback welcome!

Seriously, could there be a better color on you?! Gorgeous. No need to hem it either as it is a very versatile length already. I can't wait to see what outfits you come up with this fabulous skirt!

Mary, this is the regular length on me, so - not to encourage you to break SYC already! - I don't see why it wouldn't work on you. I mean I'm only 5'1" or an inch more on a good day!

Oh how lovely you look. Love that orange on you. Delicious! You say you're 5'1 and that skirt looks really good on you, so maybe it will look okay on me too then. I'm 5'2 and I have that same skirt (different color) and I always thought it looked too long on me. I've never worn it, but seeing it on you (it looks so super) I think I'll give it a go.
And picking up toys for our furbabies...? well, gotta love it

I think I have short legs or something. I bought the purple magenta in regular before it became available in petite and it just didn't work. Actually, I think it was because the area from my waist to my hips is virtually nonexistent (I carried my baby all the way up under my boobs until the very minute they took him out via c-section!) so the seaming was just "off" on me in the regular size.

Funny how our bodies can be so different even though the general dimensions are the same!

I'd prefer to see it hit you at the knees, not below. If it was me, I'd take it up 1-2 hem lengths. This comes from a lifetime of skirts being too long on me because I am very petite. Skirts always end up at this length on me and to my eyes, this will always be unintentional length that screams frump... sorry I must be honest with you. If it was a tad longer it would look more like an intentional midi length instead of just a too long regular length. Love the color!!

Una, I love the colour. As for the length, how about wearing it like this a few times and seeing how you feel? It's an easy job to hem it if you decide to.

Love the color on you but I don't think it's quite long enough to qualify as a midi. It needs like an inch more.

I'm actually with modgirl on this one. I would hem it just slightly so it hit at the knee. I'm another shortie who also has very short legs, and I always feel that skirts at this length look unintentional.

ETA: I would amend my response if you were planning on only wearing the skirt with knee-high boots. I feel that look is different and works. But if you want to wear it with bare legs, I would hem.

Okay, here's the deal. It's only going to be worn with high boots for the next nine months of winter. Then it will give birth to a hemmed knee length skirt. Acceptable?

I actually don't mind the length and of course the color is amazing!! Is this the petite? If not I'm going to have to return mine when it comes because it will be too short for me... We'll see!

Incredible color! I think it's a great idea to keep it a bit longer during the colder months when it will be worn with boots and provide that extra little bit of coverage. Fun!! Hmmm...I'd been eyeing this skirt in the camel color but all of a sudden I'm craving some vitamin C!

Una, I wore my red and tan skirts, a couple times, then ended up taking them to the tailor- she's shortening one and taking in another. Weird, since they are both the same size. Why don't you wear it, see how you feel, then tailor it if you want? That way you'll really know.
