I had to return and order a size up, and while I was at it I switched from black to grey as I do have tall black boots. I was hoping it would be a mid-dark grey rather than a lighter shade, and they are indeed! The first picture is much more accurate - they are more charcoal than slate blue-grey.
I am a little shorter than Rae, with scrawnier calves, but these seem to hit at a good height and are extremely confortable. They are a bit distressed but not overly so, and the heel is brown wood which is a little different and interesting.
Please ignore the mishmash outfit - I wore this top today but changed into the leather skirt just so you could see the boot height on me!
