Love them both! I'm thinking of trying these shoes too, as a conference work shoe (standing and walking for 12-16 hour days). How do they fit? I need a wide-ish toe box....

I like the color of the jacket and with the shoes it makes a good match. If the jacket's dye job looks professional enough up close as mentioned by someone else, then it's a GO to me! And yes, you must have some comfortable work shoes!

Looks great to me too. I can't figure out what is "scary" about the jacket. It almost looks a little camouflagey on my monitor--a little mottled? I think it looks fab though. Nothing scary at all especially with that pretty smile! I like the shoes if they are comfy. The print makes a conventional shoe more fun.

comfy shoes are underrated.they are amust for anyone who spends time on their feet.

Ins ummer I always try to wear my low heeled ppumps but after 3-4 hours my nurses notice me limpin and quietle suggest I chnage into my ballet flats that I always carry in summer!

I think the jacket would look great exspecially without the zipper closed with skinnies and a grey top. or a white one.

Here is a close-up pic of the jacket. It is not a solid color; it is meant to look distressed. Those who dislike the jacket, do you just think it is bad for work, or do you think it looks ugly on me altogether, like I shouldn't even wear it for casual wear?

I meant "scary" as intimidating... Is a leather biker jacket intimidating on a SA?

I have plenty of RATE shoes, so the pumps would be to add POLISH. Like if I end up getting some slouchy chinos and need to dress them up, RATE boots won't cut it. Are there any suggestions for a different comfort pump?

No, the style of that jacket isn't intimidating. I think it is a pretty classic leather jacket cut, and not an extreme biker cut. Something that had studs and fringe and skulls all over might be intimidating!

Not moldy, it looks great. Keep it. Did you think my distressed cream jacket was intimidating? No, I don't think so. I think your jacket is in the same category. Anyhow, you could not look intimidating even if you tried. you can always upscale it with more luscious materials and tailored fits for the remaining items.

I have zero issues with the pumps. I am a big fan of wedge pumps for that reason, they are still dressy, but are a bit more fun.

Anthro had a bunch of fun pumps on sale

OK, chiming back in on the shoes (I'm good with the jacket!). As I said, they fill a practical wardrobe need, and the snakeskin close-up does make them more you. Plus they are comfy in a low heel. So I'll vote keep. I have lots of wardrobe items that I need for work that fall in a similar category.

Zap, thanks for the exemption!

I love what you did to the jacket! The color change makes it totally work for you. I don't find anything about it intimidating. Love the pumps (of course). They look like a great style for your style. Love the texture and the upturned toe (which I find uncomfortable, actually). The chunky heel with the midi is very appealing! And bonus: they work with pants. Keep and keep!

Jacket is fab! Pair with very polished pieces to offset the distressing. Shoes are, at the very least, a very good stopgap and are pretty cute to boot. The chunky heel, snakeskin, and metallic all give them "Rae enough" qualities that they could certainly work for you for a while. Then after wearing for a bit you can determine whether they deserve to stay, to be upgraded, or look for another kind of shoe. I kind of love those little upturned toes, I also find them very comfortable! My oxfords I'm wearing today have them ^^

Keep the shoes! Jacket I am less excited about. Fit perfect, distressing great, but the colour does look a little blah to me. Have you style it as a neutral and worn a bright blouse or bottom with it? I am swimming against the tide!

The shoes are excellent. The jacket... eh, from the bottom of my heart, it icks me out Rae. I don't have a good reason.

Shoes are fine and the fit on the jacket is flattering and the style is not at all intimidating or too biker looking. However, the mottled finish gives me pause - not for casual wear because the colour looks great on you, but for work. It is just a little too mottled for my taste for work.

On the close up I'd (being my previous conservative work self, not the SAHM who posts on this forum) probably skip the jacket for work until you get a good sense of the unwritten rules. It seems a little iffy to me for the more polished dept. Great for off work wear though!

I like both. Others who know you better are saying the shoes aren't your style. Do you have other shoes that will serve the same purpose? Oxfords or something?

Well, I like the jacket.

And I think the shoes are worth hanging onto because you need this sort of thing.

I'd be hunting for a pointier toed low heeled pump myself, but then I'm a UP not a UWP. Which might make all the difference. Plus I am mad at Born because the ink blue boots I bought didn't fit.....

Thank you for all the opinions, everyone! They really helped.

I ended up wearing the shoes today, and I really like them. I do not like pointy toes and don't find them comfy, so holding out for that is not an option, no matter how trendy they are. I am going to use these to add some polish, since that is what I need to up the ante on to bring my style to work.

I'll hang onto the jacket for now and see if I wear it casually. I didn't say before, but the shoulders feel a little too strong with my super short hair, and that is why I feel iffy about it. Maybe I'll feel different when it grows some...

I think they both look great.

I'm not sold on the jacket. I don't think it goes with a grey skirt, and it's passable with the black. I do like the shoes.

I like them both. I know you are struggling with your style, but I wouldn't ditch either because someone on the forum doesn't like them. Only you can decide if they make you feel fab.

i like both rae the jacket is beautiful im not aware of what u did to it or how was before...but there's nothing wrong or intimitating and the shoes...are not frumpy and they are actually nice...I love working with heels and that are comfty just bee carefull of wearing at all the time cuz varicose vains will start to appear if u are stanting to much kk?

How is the mottled look that different from tie-dye? Like a shark swimming in the murky green depths... If you don't like it, that's different, but I don't see anything scary about it, shark analogies aside!

I think I like and am going to keep the jacket, but I may not wear it to work... honestly, my inspiration for the jacket actually WAS mold... I collected pictures of green mold and everything, so the fact that some of you find it dirty/moldy/ugly looking perversely pleases me. lol.

However, I am grateful for the honest responses; a lot of my work depends on first impressions, so I agree that dirty/moldy might not be the first thought I want in a customer's head.
