I've been looking around for animal print bags since Mo posted the article from real simple about how it's not ok to sport the same tired old black bag all year long. A few things about this search give me pause: I should be hugging my closet, they are expensive and maybe I shouldn't drop so much money on something trendy right now. Then I remembered that I have this animal bag from ~5 years ago. It is nice Italian leather and more than a bit on the blingy side. Can I rock it until I find the right animal bag or is it time to retire it?

I think you can rock it until you find the perfect animal print (or other!) bag, modgrl! It's a beautiful (soft-looking) leather, and the two-tone keeps it a little different and interesting, IMHO. Plus it matches with anything and can take you into spring and summer nicely!

I say keep and wear! The neutral tones keep it current, IMO. I think it'd fit right in with things on offer this season - printed bags are supposed to be big, right?

Rock it as your main bag, you mean? The shiny factor makes it uh, not subtle whichever outfit you pair it with. That said, it IS a pretty bag and tossing (even after the new one comes along) seems extreme, unless you're sick to death of it. It will always be good with certain styles, and maybe the bling will motivate you to more quickly find your next bag.

Since I inadvertently started all this, I am going to cast my vote for a jewel tone for your next bag! From what I've seen you wear, a jewel tone would go awesomely with your wardrobe. I think this is a fine stop-gap to use in the meanwhile

I think I can do some surgery and remove the little heart bauble to make it less teenie bopperish.

Thanks for the feedback. Unless there is a coup on the forum overnight, this bag is coming out to play tomorrow. Bonus points, I know it can fit my lunch and a book for my commute.

Mo I love jewel tones but they are such a bold statement for a black handbag kind of girl. What color were you thinking?

Too funny since I am really not a bag gal (I use the same one for months at a time too) but when I went with my purple Fossil Sutter I was sooo happy for it to be my new everyday bag.
I think color is pretty personal and so I couldn't really say . . . I did take a look at my main colors to be sure the purple wouldn't clash. I wear a lot of red, green, purple and blues with my neutrals, so it works for me.
(and by contrast, I have a red patent bag that I have *yet* to pull out 6 months later!)

I think that if you have doubts, toss it. You may get good money for it at a second hand shop.

I think it looks perfectly acceptable. Get some pliers and cut off the heart and you're all set. At least it's real leather!
