Mini purge on route to making Angie's wardrobe capsule. Are these keep or throw? Ponyskin in zebra print pointy skimmers about 5 yrs old. Cowboy boots I wore year one but not since... Thanks!

Do you see yourself wearing the cowboy boots? I have a pair and love them but if you've only worn them once then maybe it's time to pass them on.

I think the zebra print skimmers have seen better days and are a little dated so maybe time to replace them.

I LOVE the pointy toe zebras - keep for sure! Not sure about the cowboy boots - do you live in Texas? (Just kidding, I live in Texas and I still haven't gotten around to getting a real pair of cowboy boots). Pattern is so big now I'd keep the zebra prints and toss/donate the cowboy boots.

I can't see anything wrong with either of these. I think zebra is supposed to be a trend this season, so unless they are worn out or uncomfortable, I'd say keep. The boots look fine too, but it depends on what else you have in your closet.

I'd keep the zebra skimmers if they look to be in good shape. They look a little creased to me, but I couldn't see an hair breakage on the back (baldness is the tell-tale sign that they are done), so I just can't tell. If you haven't worn the cowboy boots in 5 years and you aren't willing to come up with a few outfits to wear them with immediately, then I'd donate them.

Thanks! Quite funny - no don't live in Texas but in subtropical inner city... WHO bought those cowboy boots???!?!? Must have been for an imaginary life somewhere... Ok the process continues... Some mixed comments on the pony babies... the pointy toe concerns me and I wouldnt wear them all day. Saw zebra shoes paired with a floral embroidered bag which I thought looked nice - perhaps another imaginary me :-S

I know, it's tricky sometimes to coordinate older wardrobe items with a current look....I have a pair of, literally, blue suede shoes that I can't bear to get rid of....

Keep #1 unless you've worn it to death. Cowboy boots - if you haven't worn them, get rid of them.

I like them both -- i love pointy toe flats, and i have a couple pairs of cowboy boots that i wear a lot.

However, if you're not wearing them and you're not feeling motivated to work them into your outfits, maybe it's time for them to go.

i 'd try wearing the zebras for a day and let your feet be your guide, if they aren't making the tootsies happy and you are on the fence about the style, donate. I will only tolerate uncomfortable feet for a KILLER look, and even then only for a sitting shoe on date night...

Sarah, you are a woman after my own heart re shoes MUST be comfortable so that is making the decision to move those zebras down to the boot of the car and on their way to a new home... Guess I was thinking when posting this that I might be missing a fashion opp of major proportions but maybe not! Besides, the beginning of the capsule construction is revealing multiple capsules hiding in the wardrobe... guess more pruning (and some returns!) are required...

I agree with Sarah A, the shoes MUST be comfortable. I just won't wear them if they aren't. The cowboy boots are kind of cute. I always thought I hated them but saw a coworker wear them this week with a flippy skirt and slouchy sweater and they looked DARLING! Hers were the loveliest shade of green! This is a woman in her late 40's or early 50's and she looked great in them. Anyway I would consider them under that scenario but if you really think you won't wear them.......then best to get rid of them to a new home.

do the pointy toes hurt or are they 3-5 hour but not all day shoes and you don't like the print enough to justify the wear?

i, however, adore them and pointy toes are on their way in. i will give them a good home where they can roam the yard with the other ponies.

I like both shoes (and am in fact looking for black and white animal print/pointy toe would be a bonus) and just bought some cowboy boots(for limited use) BUT if they don't fit in your life or wardrobe there isn't a reason to keep.
If the boots are a known Western brand, and barely worn, you might bring down Buffalo Exchange and sell them (or some other hip used clothing store in your town) as they are all the rage with the under 25 crowd. That's why it's hard to find decent broken boots in stores apparently. Or donate away

I'd say pass on both- not for style reasons because neither look dated to me, but because if you haven't worn a pair for years then they are taking up much needed space. As for flats, I'm also adamant that your shoes shouldn't hurt your feet; if the pointy toe in uncomfortable, let them go. (I have very squared off toes and can't wear pointy toed shoes either!)

Jen I love the flats but I would do as others suggested and wear for a day and decide if they are comfortable. I think they definitely look current. I would reserve my judgement on the cowboy boots because I don't particularly like this style of boot so hard for me to be objective.

I think the zebra shoes are cool! And not dated at all. I can't add pictures but in the links you'll see Manolo Blahnik and Valentino doing pointy toe flats this season. There are even more in this shape with heels.

I am a big fan of pointy toe shoes.

But if they are uncomfortable, that's another thing.

I think the zebras are 3-5 hour shoes... I can just wear my other shoes to walk to work and then hang out at desk and head to the photocopier in my zebras,.. I have a great zebra scarf (which is quite new) as well so maybe they would add a little dimension to wearing black and black or white from my new/emerging work capsule... I am still keen on the image I saw ages ago with zebra shoes with a black bag with the major coloured floral on it... Or my bone bag... I will have a go and post them on WIW sometime soon and we can give another verdict... loving all your insights - thank yoU!
