I found this on extra sale at Neiman Marcus. It is a Valentino bow belt bag. There is a main zippered pocket behind the bow, two smaller zippered pockets in each side of the bow. I think it must have been a runway piece. The belt clasp is exceedingly well made.
But it might also been ridiculous. I tried it low on my hip, off to the side slightly and at my waist.
Keep or return? I keep I need some styling ideas. I was talking to my father while trying to take photos (bonus background of the scaffolding).

Anna, if I had been in NM at the same time we may have wrestled for this item! It is a brilliant piece and you have that IT factor to rock it. Oh, it is so much better than my tiddly wink marsupial pouch from Anthro!

At first I thought the scale was too large, but it seems to work well situated at the back! I'd try it out backward with a couple more outfits, just to make sure you can get decent use out of it.

I actually really like photo 4 in the first set, as is. I'd like the slimmer top with some more substantial bottoms -- maybe skinny jeans or even some straight leg or bootcuts. Or how about a nice midi skirt?

I think it works in #4 because it acts as a bustle, so MaryK's call for more substantial bottoms may be the key here. I like the idea of a skirt of some kind.

I still don't like it facing forward, though.

I love MaryK's suggestion; in the back it looks definitely better than the front - it makes me think of obi belts and how those japanese ladies have bows in the back

It's not my cup of tea, but I'm not wearing it :)! If it makes you happy then keep! It will certainly be a conversation starter. I do prefer it with the bow in the back. I wonder about having the bow to the side...and maybe with a dress or jumpsuit that's all one color, so the belt is the star (not that it wouldn't be anyway!).

It's the scale that's off for me. It's so huge. It is making whatever area you wear it on look huge.

I'm not loving it. I think it's too big and the bow is too prissy. It reminds me of the big hair bows we used to wear back in the early 90's. It's all I see when I look at the outfits. Return.

I prefer it in the front and with a sleeker (like the all black outfit with your awesome brogues) outfit. How would it be useful in the rear? You would constantly be shifting it forward to sit down, reach for your wallet, your outfit would be twisted and ruffled, etc.

If it is too challenging and you do not feel you will get use out it, you should definitely return. But I really, really, really like it on you!

That being said, I only think it works when worn like an obi (bow at the back). And when you sit down, you might need to take it off. That may ruin your outfit? Not sure.

But you know, if it lights your fire and you have the budget - you know I'm gong to say go for it!

Hmm, I'm surprised at my reaction to this. I love bows--and the bigger, the better. But I can't wrap my head around this one.

In the first set of photos it doesn't seem to work with the voluminous shirt. In the second set, it seems like it's the contrast that is making it look overwhelming. Maybe with something fitted and low contrast it could work better.

Are there any pictures out there on the internets that show it modeled or styled?

Your decisioni seems to be made. I agree the bag is fab, but difficult to really wear! But - those shoes are wonderful! How have I not seen those before? Dare I ask what they are?

Sara, you haven't seen those shoes in that color before. They are the Rag & Bone cut out oxfords I ordered from Nordstrom ages ago. Got the wrong color, got a two-tone cognac color. Hemmed and hawed forever. Then Barney's had this color, the original one I wanted and on sale to boot. So I returned the Nordies one and got these instead. I guess patience and indecision sometimes pays off.

When I returned it another sales person tried it on over her pencil skirt still quite didn't work. Plus the bow flapped in a strange way with movement.
