Keep or Return? Trendy or Dated or Classic? :P A handbag in orange.

I am head-over-heels in love with this little Fossil bag! It is the size of my iPad (just fits in) and I think it is structured and terribly cute...

I am hesitating because

a) ... it's red/orange/coral - is this too trendy? Will I have to get rid of this in a year or two because red/orange/coral is out?

b) ... is it too structured? Are slouchy bags in or out? I can't keep track! And it's definitely a smaller bag than my usual - is this smaller size still trendy?

Looks pretty classic. How small is it? If your ipad fits it can't be too small. I would put on arm and take a full length pic and see if the proportion is right.

The color is not trendy - you could use this for 5 years easily!

i used to be the queen of haul-all totes. i have since switched to a crossbody bag, which is just big enough to accommodate my ipad, sunglasses, wallet, phone. i love it! can't get over how much i do NOT miss accummulating stuff as with my old bags, i am a convert. sooo, the bag you are considering not too small. as a resident, you may need a bigger bag than i do, for lunch or handbooks etc. but i think this bag can accommodate your life.

the color is smashing and a perennial favorite.

I think it's a good deep colour that should remain versatile and cheery for years! Look at how much fun people are still having with red and yellow bags, not to mention teal and purple, even as the most on-trend colours are green and blue and orange.

And I do believe Angie mentioned structured bags were in recently (possibly one of the work capsule posts, but my head is a sieve today).

Lyn no matter if they are in or out, I love a structured bag! The color is gorgeous and I think this will be around for a while. Sounds like you love it...you should have it:)

I say keep it if you love it - red is always a lovely colour and it doesn't really matter whether structured or slouchy styles are currently in fashion as they always come back around. Added bonus if it actually fits your iPad as it looks so small!

Gorgeous bag (but I'm a sucker for orange). I don't think it will look too trendy in a few years (but who really has that crystal ball) Would it be an eventual candidate for dyeing at that point? I've seen such fabulous results from Rae and Claire I think all bags should be dyed (but obviously not until you're over the orange).

I'm no help as to whether slouchy bags are in or out because they are always out to me! The colour is trendy, but I think the tailored shape will keep it from looking dated too quickly.

I think the style is good, my only comment is that I like to have a crossbody option on a smaller bag.
As for colour - buy it only if you love it. Personally I love orange and all its hues, so this would be a no-brainer for me, but if you gravitate more to pink, or blue, or green, then look for one in those colours.

I think this is a great bag lyn - the colour is trendy but it's not that super bright orange and I think the shape and stitching is classic enough that it will not go out of style too quickly. Definitely think you can get a few years out of this purse. I love the structured style but I'm all about a structured bag - me and floppy bags do NOT get along! As long as you can fit into it what you need, I think this would be a great addition to your wardrobe.
