Keep or return - the Clarks booties

The Clarks booties arrived today! The color is not as light as it looks online, it's more of an taupe, but I like it. The length is okay, but they are fairly tight around the toes. I probably couldn't wear them with socks or thicker tights, unless the leather gives a little bit. The heels are manageable.

#1/2 What do you think about the look with the skirt? Can I wear them with black? Do you think I would need to bookend them?

#3 I have no idea about the way these are supposed to fit, but here you can see how much room I have around the ankles. Is it supposed to be like that? Tight around the toes and loose-fitting around the ankles feels peculiar when I walk.

I'm not entirely sure whether I want to keep them or not. Please help me figure these out! Yay for keep them, nay for keep searching. If you vote nay, could you tell me why?

I like the look of the boots, and I think you can totally wear them with skirts. But...if the color is off compared to what you were looking for, then maybe keep looking? Do you have some warm brown or light brown booties already (to bookend your hair)?

I really, really like the boots. I am not sure on how they are meant to fit though.

Jonesy, the color is a bit off, but that's no problem. I even like them better in the darker hue. I originally wanted grey ones, but I think taupe is a color that goes very well with all the cool colors too.I don't have any booties at all yet, only my black boots. I wanted them to be an alternative to the boots.

Oh, another thing is that they are part suede. Definitely good weather shoes.

Change the colour of the tights:) Go for something more grey. Love the booties!

I like the booties a lot, but I am not sure about wearing them in the combo you show here. I think it would be a good idea to put together several outfits and ask again to be sure that they are not only great shoes but also working with your wardrobe.

Astrid, my understanding is that you have little money to spend on clothes, and every purchase needs to be as wonderful as possible. It sounds like these won't work whenever it's cold enough to need socks or may be wet outside, and so I don't think they're worth keeping. Can you try sizing up and seeing if they fit with socks and are more comfy? And are there any weatherproofing options for suede?

Thank you Kate, you're absolutely right! I think I needed somebody to tell me that. I really like the look of these, but I don't think they're practical for Berlin fall weather. I don't think sizing up would work, they would definitely be too loose around the ankles.

Scarlet's post on wanting a new wardrobe got me thinking just now that I need to plan more and be more strategic about the things I buy, even more so because I'm on a budget and want to have fab and versatile items all the same.

So I think these booties are going back. I need something a bit more weatherproof.

Sounds good. Don't lose hope - I don't even want to guess how many hours (or tens of hours) I spent hunting for my booties. But when I found them they were completely worth it!

I did not expect to like these, but they are fab! Are you ok with not being able to wear socks or thick tights? Sounds like it might be too limiting if you can't wear them under pants or with leggings...

Astrid are you looking for booties or boots in general? Have you tried Doc Martens? Mine are THE most comfortable footwear I own and suitable for rain and snow x

I do really like those booties, but Kate made a great point about the socks. I usually buy boots a little loose and put in a wool insole in winter. Walking around so much the cold goes right into my feet.

Louise, I was looking for booties because I only have one pair of boots and I wanted an alternative option first, but if I find another pair of perfect boots I would be okay to buy a second pair of boots instead of booties.I like the idea of Doc Martens, but I feel like most of the styles are too much for my frame. Certain styles are great though and I love the thought to have sturdy boots or booties that hold up a long time. We have an Dr Martens store in Berlin, I'll have a look around soon.

You're right Scarlet, I easily get cold feet too. To wear a pair of socks should be possible.
