Keep or return (slouchy trousers!)

I've been intrigued by the slouchy trouser trend, though I wasn't quite sure if I could pull them off. I've gotten tired of wearing tight pants all the time, so I decided to take the plunge with these paperbag trousers from Dorothy Perkins! What do you guys think? I bought both a black version (on super sale), and a light pink one, because in my head I envision slouchy pants in light colors. Pardon my messy hair, and also don't focus on the belt or shoes--I just grabbed the first ones I could find. I know that I should do a lower contrast and bigger belt, and should probably wear nude shoes with the pink pants.

Also, a silk sleeveless top from Banana Republic and a knit striped jacket from Dorothy Perkins...opinions on these? I think both are most likely getting returned--I thought the top would be a darker, redder coral, rather than the orangey shade it is, and the jacket is not as fitted in the bust as I would like. I do like the gelato color combination of the pants and the blouse, though.

I like the relaxed pants. Would you wear them with heels? I'd prefer if they didn't puddle around the ankle so much. I LOVE the silk shirt. It looks like a great color on you! I'd say the jacket looks so-so. I'd agree with returning that, but I vote to keep the blouse.

These trousers have potential! Love the pastel shade with the brights! I would have liked to see a size up cause they look a little snug. Are they final sale?

(My dear crazyone - these aren't slouchy trousers. They are high-waisted tailored slacks with tapered hems. They aren't baggy enough to slouch as they are fitted through the waist and thighs).

I have that blouse on my list of items I'd buy before SYC, in the cream color. I vote keep.
I can't help with the pants No clue about how those are supposed to fit!

OK, slouchy pants really require a graduate level on YLF! I was thinking these are slouchy until I read Angie's post and then it was obvious they are not.
I like the pink ones, maybe you can size up like Angie suggested - hey should work really well for summer.

Well, I guess I'll have to keep the blouse, as it rated a KILLER from Angie.

And Angie, you're right that the pants are tighter fitted through the thighs than they should be, and that they're not actually slouchy pants (they don't even slouch on the model: http://us.dorothyperkins.com/w.....ageSize=20 ). They just *feel* slouchier than most other pants I own.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how likely I am to return any of this, because evidently one has to return via mail to the UK I thought they'd be like ASOS, which has a US based distributor to whom returns are mailed. I usually don't buy from retailers that don't have a good returns policy, and I hardly ever buy pants online, but the color, style, and price of the blush pants were just too good to pass up. And I guess, because the pants aren't actually that slouchy, they actually looked pretty good with untucked tops, at least to me. So I may keep them for that purpose, at least--especially since this week, I've been craving silky, non-skin tight pants since my hives returned and friction (from jeans, or rough polyesters) only exacerbates them.

Wow, you look great in those beautiful pants. I love them, I love both colors. I think the style is gorgeous on you. And I love the sleeveless top. I hope you do keep them.
The jacket is pretty but it would be prettier with the new pants and top.

I actually love how you've styled the jacket with the striped top. And you're absolutely right, the blush and coral combo is delicious! What's in a name? A trouser that fits well and looks good and above all FEELS good is a FAB find any day of the week!

I really love the blouse paired with the pale/blush coloured pants as seen in photos #3 and 4! Keep the blouse for sure, and I think the colour combination of the soft coloured pant with the blouse is just fabulous on you.

thanks, everyone! It seems like the blouse is definitely a winner, and some of you liked the jacket. I guess I'll need to hang on to it (unless I want to pay for shipping to the UK, bleh), but it just feels a little big *on*. Maybe it'll work better for the winter over bulkier knits or light gauge sweaters.

And the pants will just have to be an ongoing experiment So many of those in my life...
