Keep or return shirts?

I need some good eyes, ladies. I bought two shirts last week and am not sure what to do about them. I like the denim shirt and really need/want one. Is this one "the one"? What about the striped shirt? I have so many solids and am looking for something with some pattern and interest? What about the ruffle? Is it too much or ok? I know that the sleeves are too long on both shirts. I tend to have that problem and usually get petites when I can. These were not offered in petite though. Keep or keep looking? Thanks!

B, can you give us an idea of how you'd style these?

I can see the denim shirt working if you rolled up the sleeves a bit and left a button or two undone at the neck with a bright cami underneath...the second shirt might working with a vest or something, but I vote pass on that one. There seems to be too much going on with it, especially worn the way you have it, buttoned up all the way

I can't help with the denim shirt...not very knowledgeable in that department. It would help to see the other shirt with a few buttons undone at the top. Right now it's feeling a little off to me somehow.

#1 looks good! I agree with Srujana on #2 - too much going on unless you really feel it's 'you'.

I'll be a dissenting voice since I like the ruffle striped shirt on you alot. The color especially is very nice on you! It definitely is a shirt that needs a "quieter" bottom and jacket if used so as not to compete with the statement of the blouse.
I personally am not huge into denim shirts so I don't have much experience styling them(Angie had some great posts on that though!). I agree that it looks a bit "serious" all buttoned up the way you are showing it--perhaps unbuttoned with an interesting cami under it and a belt over?

I was hoping to wear the denim shirt over a cami and with a belt. Also, paired with a dressier skirt. Really hoping that it woudl be a versatile piece for me. As for the striped blouse, maybe with a boyfriend cardi and black straight leg jeans and flats? Does this help?

I like the jean shirt, but also think it would look better un-buttoned a little, this could be a great layering piece.

Not sure about the stripped blouse, could you post a few photos of how you might wear it? The ruffle front might make it harder to work with.

I really like the jean shirt on you but agree with Carole to un-button it a bit more.
It would look great belted as well or worn with a dark jeans; you could pair it with a blazer or layer it over nice, simple piece and wear it opened or partially buttoned down over a nice top and belted... So many possibilites, including rolling the sleeves "messy style" or neatly over the elbows... Basically it is a very versatile piece (great to wear it with a nice skirt as well... including a pencil skirt and high(er) heels - fun!!!). In my mind it is definitely a "keeper" whilst the stripped blouse I am not sure about

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I will keep the denim shirt and return the striped one. Love the colors in it, but the ruffle was just too much for me.
