Keep or Return- Navy dress - YouLookFab Forum

I stopped in at Lands End for a swimsuit Thursday and ended up with this navy dress.

It's very simple, but I felt like the cut was flattering when I was in the dressing room. I changed into it as soon as I got home and wore it out to dinner for just a couple of hours. Now it is heavily creased. It seems like the fabric is going to need to be laundered, and ironed (I rarely iron!) more often than my other dresses. It also has pintuck pleats which may be a nightmare to iron. With Lands End's lenient return policy, I guess I could wait to launder it the first time to see if it turns into a mess.

Do you think it's worth all the trouble? Or should I just take it back? It doesn't really fill a hole in my wardrobe, I do have another knee length navy dress in jersey that I use for layering outfits. I like that this one works well simply on it's own, though.

I like the dress. It has a classic simplicity and is flattering on you. But if you are going to have to iron it (pintucks no less) and you don't like to iron, then I would return. If you must iron, save it for something that you positively love.

Looks great- sack dress? Is it linen? as this does always look crumpled but I think that is part of the look x

It's not linen, just two layers of very thin cotton.

I like the style of the dress on you, but the wrinkled reality isn't so great. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle, particularly if you don't like to iron.

It is a beautiful dress and fits you well. I have a weakness for pintucks, they are such a nice detail. I also have a weakness for dark blue, and fuschia so the sweater and belt I love. I think you should keep it, you've already proven it's versatility.

Keep. It is a lovely dress and really does suit you. Would love to see it with a bright emerald green or a sunny yellow accessories as well.

that's exactly why I try to stay away from 100% cotton. I say if you were unhappy with the appearance after a couple hours of wear, return it. You wont' want to pull it out to wear all day long.

I like it on you, but it really depends on your tolerance of wrinkles and/or ironing.

I like the dress and vote keep. I also hate to iron and have found a steamer does wonders, and is a lot faster than ironing anyway. Do you have one? Maybe that would sway your decision to keep the dress sans ironing?

I love the dress on you. Love it with the red flats and the other outfits. If it were me, I'd keep it even if I had to steam or iron it.

I really like that dress on you. Maybe the ironing is not as bad as you think. Depending how it's sewn the ironing might not be too bad. I have several pieces with pin-tucks that aren't much trouble. I like Lisa's idea, though. I fantasize about buying a steamer.

I love the dress on you. The length is perfect with your great legs. But since you have another navy dress and you don't like to iron (I loathe it as well), I'm going to vote return. That's how much I hate to iron.
