Keep or return leather shorts

Impulse purchase on sale. They're by 3.1 Phillip Lim. I got them for much cheaper.

I love the cut outs but they might be limited as far as wearability. I'd probably do a half tuck, but did a full tuck to show the fit.

If you have ideas how to style them, as well as items in your closet that go with them, I vote keep. If you can't figure out how to style them with what you've got, I'd return them. I like them with the gladiator sandal/boots but maybe a different top. The white t combined with the shorts makes me think gym.

I second the boxer look with the white tee right now - maybe some different styling would change that but with the shinier texture and waistband fit, it brings prize fighters to mind for me. :/

I like the dressy way they are styled on Shopbop. Almost looks like a skirt.

As a self proclaimed queen of orphaned bottoms, i advise you to try find some ( at least one) top you like with them and keep them. I suggest maybe a drapey blousey silky top ( short enough not to tuck). I would be awesome with the pants and the gladiators ( which I LOVE)

I don't know how much you paid for them but in the latest issue of UK Elle there was a street style feature and the lady photographed was wearing leather boxer shorts bought cheaply from....a sex shop LOL. She had them styled with a black blazer and quite classic black pumps and the whole outfit looked a million dollars. It brings another meaning to Angie's leave no retail stone unturned.

I also like the idea of a white button down and black monster wedge boots. I think an element of sophistication has to be added to the shorts.

I'm going to be a complete spanner and vote return. Sorry, Anna :(. I find them a tad short and too voluminous in the hip area.

I have no doubt that you could make a similar vibe look perfectly sophisticated and edgy. But it starts off with the right pair of leather shorts. And FWIW, to my eye, I don't think they are these.

The cut outs are cool. Maybe a silky top? Although, I have to say, I think you'd probably pass them up a lot. The choice of - the word eludes me right now - of a band waist strikes me as odd for leather.

Anna, I was all ready to vote yes....the thought of you in leather shorts is just so perfect !!! I don't think these are the ones, though. I also think that they are too short and too "pouffy". To me, they look like an ill-fitting short skirt. Please keep looking because the concept is totally you !
