Picked this little capelet up at Anthro last night - I love the pattern/color and it is actually short enough for me. There is no front closure but it actually fits under a coat so it isn't a totally impractical topper. However, I'm a little unsure of the shape and style on me... I've never been sure that capes work at all with my sloping shoulders. I haven't styled it very much here - just put it on with my current outfit in place of the sweater I was previously wearing.

So what do you guys think? And if it's a keep, how would you style it?

I rather like it. It's quirky but not so out there as to be unwearable, and it kind of reminds me of a very cropped kimono jacket. My thought is to wear it over a long-sleeved black sweater or simple long-sleeved (or sleevless) black dress. Do you think you would get enough wear out of it to justify keeping it, though?

Gonna be harsh, but I think it hides your waist from the front view. Now, you are permitted to hide waist if so desired. Just thought I should say is all....since you asked. COlors very very pretty. Got lots to match or contrast with?

Thanks, ladies. I'm leaning towards keeping it. This was on pretty big sale so I'm not fussed if I don't wear it a ton, although of course I'd like to be able to wear it more than one way. To be clear, I don't think I'd actually wear it like I've shown here, as I think the tee is too short for this outfit in any case (I actually wore a longer sweater over it when I was out earlier).

Kari, I like the black dress idea. I do have a black jersey dress that it will go perfectly with. I think also possibly a shorter tunic/dress with leggings would work too. I was also thinking it's fancy enough to dress up a black cocktail dress for, say, a spring or fall wedding as well; usually I pair my LBD with a lacey wrap but that can get annoying to fiddle with and is not particularly warm. I could actually use a nice topper for formal wear.

CitygirlDC, this is actually one of the only capes I've ever seen that is even close to being short enough for me! I am so short waisted... Most capes just swallow me up completely.

I like this capelet a lot, Diana! I actually like how you have it styled in that outfit. I would wear it the exact same way you would wear any cropped jacket. I think the easiest way to wear it would be with dresses and skirts, but like I said, I like the outfit in the photos you posted, too.

I really like the way you've shown it already. I would think it would also look smashing over a dress (in any of the colors it has - I'm partial to grey, but there are some other lovely options), what is the fabric? Could it work in spring over lighter bottoms as well? I think with a turtleneck (black or white) it would look quite sleek.
