Keep or return, dress edition

So today I looked and tried on tops, bottoms, and dresses...but as usual, only dresses followed me home. Let me know what you think!

1&2: a blush lace midi dress. This is the one I'm most uncertain about. Very comfy for summer but I'm not sure that it's a 10. It's definitely not a 10 without the belt.

(3) a two piece dress from BCBG. This looks better in person than in photographs. I really think the color and fit are good for me and hopefully it'll be a good summer outfit.

(4&5). Madewell coin tile dress. Bought on Memorial Day. I'm definitely keeping this one, it's a 3 season dress for me, with tights and boots/booties in the spring and fall.

One to three are a definitely keep! The
blush lace midi dress

doesn't work for all figures but it works very well with your figure. Add or change a few accessories and you can even spin that dress into a new look for another day

I really like the coin dress (the one you are keeping). It looks great both ways and seems really versatile.

I like the lace one, too, but you need to have the occasions for it. Not as sure about the other one but it sounds as if you like it so it is probably better IRL. I can easily imagine how lovely the colour is on you.

I've got to agree with alaskagirl on the lace dress. Plus I'm bothered by the crookedness of the lace lines in the front view and by the way the lace "stripes" don't match at all on the side.

The coin dress is lovely, and the red is very flattering, if you have occasions to wear it.

1 looks good on you but maybe with a different belt? You would definitely need to own the somewhat Victorian look of the dress. Or maybe contrast it with some tougher looking shoes and belt.

It might just be a personal taste thing, but I'm not wild about #1 -- it's a lot of lace, and a lot of detail to my eye. But the fit is perfect. I'd like to see a lower contrast belt with it, maybe.

#2 is totally cute, and I like it better on you than in the stock photo.

#3 is nice and versatile -- glad you're keeping it!

I'm surprised many of you are asking the occasion for the lace dress--I saw it and intended it to be a very casual dress--just for wearing around on the weekends. I'm surprised that many of you see it as a special occasion dress--in person at least, it reads super casual, like summer picnic type dress. The length and material make it breezy for the summer. My biggest problem with it is that the waistline looks not great on me without the belt, and the belt I bought is actually too big

Angie likes it though, so maybe it's a keeper!

As for styling the coin tile dress, I'd wear it with oxfords in the summer, and with a blazer/cardigan and tights and boots/oxfords in the fall. This is definitely a wear to work dress for me, unlike the other two. The red two-piece is the biggest wild card in terms of practicality, though it has the advantage that the pieces can be remixed. The top might go quite well with the long cream midi pleated skirt I ordered, for example.

2 is really cute on you. Clothing that reveals midsection can be very limited use but this is so controlled it seems more wearable and the color is beautiful on you.
I like the idea of 1 for you, the lace and the fit and style of the bodice but combined with the voluminous skirt it's too much dress. Maybe if the skirt was shortened a little?

Whatever you keep will look great, just be sure that you will wear it.

I love the coin tile dress! I think it's the perfect summer dress and it's great that it can be worn both loose and belted. I am tempted to try it myself.

The two piece is super fun and cute too.

I'm not wild about the lace. It seems like a lot of dress to me. I think it's the combo of high neckline, longish length and the inherent busy-ness of lace. I can see the issue with the waist a bit as well - there's a bit of extra material that is contributing to the impression (to me at least) that the dress is wearing you. I think you could make it work certainly but my gut feeling is that to do so you'd have to go for a dressier approach which doesn't sound like what you want this dress to do.

I like all of them on you, but the higher neck long lace dress might be a bit hot for ordinary summer wear.
