Keep or return: Angie's Pick: Gap Academy Blazer

Before my trip I purchased the Gap Academy Blazer. As usual, Angie is spot on in her recommendation. Although this has a lot of poly in it, the drape is wonderful and the fabric feels great!

I bought 2 colors, navy (size 6) and gray (size 8). When I got home, I decided Navy will go better with my closet (and I don't have a Navy blazer!)

But which size? The store only had the Navy in a 6 and the gray in size 8. The 6 fits best open, but I will only wear this open. The 8 is slightly more comfy in the shoulders when I raise my arms or bend forward.

Which size is best; should I return these and order the Navy in an 8?

I like the look of the 8 better. It's not oversized, but even when I wear a jacket open I want it to look like it would be fine closed. And this is a bf type style. I got my regular size in this (the navy) despite the recommendation to size down. It was the same difference you are illustrating and I just felt a bit better in the larger size since I might layer a sweater or vest or turtleneck underneath. I'd vote order the 8 Navy.

To my eye, the navy looks better. However, I prefer my jackets fitted. Would you not wear a 6 because it is too constricting? Is there enough give in the material of the 6 to make it comfortable?

I like the navy better on you colorwise, but prefer the size of the grey. I'd order the navy in 8!

So far Navy in size 8 is in the lead!

Geargirl, the jacket is a stretchy knit even the 6 is comfortable across my broader back....(but the 8 is more so!)

Although I adore the higher contrast of the tipping on the grey one, I think the navy looks better with your complexion--and it would be nice to have a navy blazer. It's hard to see the fit on it because it's so dark. I defer to the others on this!

I like the 8. The 6 looks off in the bust area. Great blazer. I love both colors. The navy is really sharp but I like the contrast of the piping against the grey.

It might be the photo but I see little difference between the 6 and the 8, so I'm ambivalent about size. I tend to size down in GAP because *I swear* GAP clothes just expand on me. It can be all in my head.

As far as color, I like the high contrast tipping on the grey better, so I vote grey. I think navy blazers are usually much easier to find.

I also prefer the size 8 but agree on the Navy. I also tried two sizes and ended up with the larger size. They both fit technically but the smaller size just didn't lay as nice overall and I wanted it to be a winter (southern winter) blazer over layers.

I vote 8, too. It's always good to have the possibility of layering.
