Keep or Return and whether to alter

I have booties and jeans for a keep of return opinion, please!

The jeans in 1-5 are from Talbots. I just purchased them today and loved them in the store. Now I wonder if they're too tight. They were on clearance, so there was no bigger size. I'm also not sure what shoes to wear them with, 1-3 is with flats, 4-5 is with booties and wedges.

The booties in 6-7 are from Amazon. I think I like them but Hubby isn't a big fan of the proportions. He wishes they had a little platform or didn't have the wedge (I didn't know he could be so opinionated!).

The dress in 6-8 is from Zara, several years old. I love it but have only worn it twice. Alone, it looks quite sack-like. With the belt, it is super short. I was thinking I could add a tan or brown strip to the bottom to make it longer, or I could hem it to blouse/tunic length.

The jeans look a bit tight in the hip area - do they give you a muffin top?
I love the booties, they will be great with tights and with jeans too. Sometimes our guys need some time to adjust...
How about wearing this dress as a tunic without shortening - with belt or without. I think it is the right length for the tunic already. The length in #8 is snorter than a tunic, just a regular top for pants.

I'll defer on the jeans fit to others, but I think you can find better jeans. Return.

I also agree with Sveta that no shortening is needed for the dress to be a tunic. Shortened, it becomes a blouse, and it is more interesting to my eye as a tunic. Keep as a tunic!

Those booties are gorgeous and you will find them to be so versatile. I completely agree with Sveta and Isis that the dress will work beautifully as a tunic. I'm not crazy about the jeans. They do seem a little tight - do they stretch out at all after wearing them a bit?

I think the jeans pull on the pocket- that style is tough, the pocket should lie flat. I love the booties.

I agree that the tunic is more interesting as it is. As much as I am not a fan of leggings it would look cute with black ones.

Jenny, the jeans are too tight across the hips. So, unfortunately, I think you might want to return them. Can you get a larger size online?

As for the dress, leave the length as is. It looks good as a tunic. Can you add some shaping to the sides to skim over your curves?

For what it's worth, I love the booties in 6-7. Maybe your husband will get used to them with time?

I love the tunic with the belt. It will be great with leggings or skinny jeans. I wouldn't alter it. The jeans look like they are the right size, but I think the style isn't a good match for your hourglass figure. The trouser-style pockets add dimension to the hips, where a sleeker line would be more flattering. I vote Return. Like others, I do like the boots. Very cute and versatile! Keepers!

I don't love the jeans... they have those really awkward side entry pockets which always seem to bulge out and make one's hips look wider even when the rest of it fits fine. I don't love the back pocket styling either. I would go for something with a classic 5 pocket jeans style, which I think tends to be much more flattering on a fitted pant, particularly denim.

I like the dress as is, with belt. I'd pair it with skinny jeans/jeggings or even leggings.

ETA: Meant to also say that I love the booties!

Amy, I can't really take in the dress without adding a zipper, and I reeeeally don't want to do that.

You have a gorgeous figure that these jeans do not give justice to. The "smile" lines at crotch point mean they are too tight. Actually, it's only a half smile because one hand is in your pocket.

I would love to see you style the dress belted as a tunic over leggings, maybe short ones in a colour that tones in with the pale background of the print. The print suits your coloring so well it would be great to bring it "forward store".

You've already got great advice on the keep/return aspect so I will just say those booties remind me of my Josef Siebel Calla booties that Krishnidoux also has (and recommended to me). If they are the same, they are the most comfortable shoes I have owned, well, maybe in my life!

You've got a lot of good advice on the jeans, so I'm adding on to say I love that top in 6-8 and can see why you do, too. I like it the way it is, but if you feel more comfortable adding border, that would work for you. I love the booties, so I'm on your side and with Suz's comments, they seem like a keeper. You're adorable.

Oh, that's too bad! I didn't realize it didn't have a zipper. I agree that that would be a pain to add.

Thanks so much for the help. The people have spoken. I took back the jeans yesterday, and although I tried on a bunch of stuff, I didn't buy anything else. I wore the booties yesterday, so with me they will stay. I asked Hubs last night if he really hates them, and he said "not at all", so everyone is happy. I'll leave the dress/tunic as is and maybe wear it with leggings tomorrow.
