Hello Fab Ones,

Should I keep or return these Boden pants? What do you think of the fit and length? Eta another photo.

I don't know, Rachy, I don't think I like my back view much in anything right now. Not to be grumpy, just self conscious.

Cats eye, yes, they do have stretch and they pass the sit down tests.

Do you like them? The fit looks correct to me (and the back view looks fine) but there's something clingy going on up front around the shins.

Thanks, all. Decided I don't like the back view and sending them back. I was hoping to put together an outfit for attending my county assembly and some other political duties but it's just not happening. Guess I'll stick to skirts I already own, the pants search has been totally demoralizing!

I can't see photos, but I applaud you for being picky. Something else will turn up.
This is s hard lesson for me to learn- new items must be better ( in some meaningful way) than what I already have.

Thanks for the encouragement, Unfrumped. I'm not very happy with the pants I already own so it will be worth it to hold out for something better.

I'm basing this on memory (as I saw your pics earlier today) so I could be off, but I was thinking that it looked like you and I had similar shapes with regard to hips/legs/ankles and that shape of pant with woven material and a cropped ankle rarely fits me quite right. It always ends up whiskering up top, and then having too much material (but that clings) around my shins. I think it's because I have more butt and narrower shins than the pants are cut for? I do better with a pant that is either more flowy than stiff, so gravity makes it hang right, or a pant that stretches and clings evenly from the top to the bottom like a ponte pant or jegging or some denim jeans.

Rabbit, yes, I think you have described the problems perfectly. That was helpful, thank you. I had no idea you had similar fit issues. Where do you find pants?? Lol.

Thanks Angie, I suspected they needed to be shorter and will keep that in mind when/if I try ankle pants again.

Lol I mostly don't wear pants that aren't jeans. I've had luck with trousers cut from a soft flowy material, same with track pants. I have more luck with things labelled jeggings made out of various materials than actual jeans if I'm wanting more of a tailored/slender fit, I think mostly because of the lack of a front pocket and the more tapered shape -- even if I size up a little in them.

Old Navy used to have a jean called the Sweetheart - I think that was their curvy cut, and it fit very well, even though other brands curvy cuts don't always. But pants that look like this: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....1&sem especially the ones with the little split at the ankle opening for some reason, almost never fit me well.

Thanks for the reply, Rabbit, and your experience. I've not had any luck with this shape of pant either. And a problem I often have with curvy fits that I do need the room in the seat, and the proportionally small waist, but I end up with an unflattering amount of extra fabric at the sides of my thighs. So a tapered pant is tempting. A size six at Boden, LE, EDdie Bauer, some Target brands, etc often do this but a smaller size is just too snug in the seat. Anyway. Onward. I very rarely have a chance to shop in person but I may on Friday so am thinking of going to Loft.

Yes, exactly, curvy fits look like I'm wearing jodhpurs

I have these jeans attached from Loft and they fit well, so hoping you will find something that works.

Also Banana Republic Factory has something called a coated legging (it basically looks like waxed denim ankle length pants in black or burgundy, not a legging), that fit well.

Haha. Maybe I should just buy jodhpurs so the look would be intentional. Thsnks for the ideas. The coated legging sounds intriguing, I'll look that up. Thanks for the conversation today, Rabbit.
