Keep or purge?

always trying

All of these are old, and have had a fair share of wear. The cardi I would not replace as I bought one last year that has already replaced it. The tuxedo jacket gets the least wear. I keep hanging on to the neutralblazer.

The tuxedo is the one I'd be most likely to keep as it's the most classic cut and does not look as worn out as the lighter items. Although maybe the photos are playing tricks on my eyes as far as the wear goes.

I'd be inclined to let them all go. It will be fun to find newer, updated versions of each .

I think you can jettison all three, especially if you have had plenty of good wear from them. Agree with lisa p's recommendation to find newer updated versions of each.

Let the cardi go as you already have a replacement for that.As for the others,do you wear them,?Have you got outfits they go with?do they still fit ?and most importantly,how do you feel when you are wearing them?Answering these questions will help you decide what to keep and what goes.

I guess it depends how you feel about them and why do you want to let them go?

I think the cardigan can go.

I think the tuxedo jacket has possibilities but if you hardly wear it I would hand it on. Maybe there is no need to replace?

What Sal said. Let the cardigan go and start actively looking for replacements for the blazer and tux jacket if you wear them. If you are tempted to buy a jacket that does not fill the hole, leave it and keep looking.

Oh, I would keep the blazer (as it looks timeless and beautiful), but let the other items go.

It’s hard for me to assess without seeing them on. That said, if you’re not wearing them, and it’s not likely you’d pull them out again in a year, I’d pass them along to another home.

You sound tired of them. “Keep holding onto” doesn’t sound as enthusiastic as “keep reaching for it”. Maybe you’d enjoy a new light neutral jacket/blazer? Perhaps pass the tuxedo jacket on and see if you crave an updated version before replacing it.

By the time I’m asking about keeping or purging, the item is usually played out for me. Of course, that is a highly individual thing, so doing what feels right for you is likely the best way forward.

If you don't wear and don't enjoy let them go. If you are considering keeping, you must try them on to make a fair assessment.

If you aren't enjoying wearing these, and you don't have any pressing need to keep them, I would let them go. The cardi especially sounds like it could be let go since you already have a replacement.

Though you said you only replaced the cardi, are there other jackets that you own that stand in for the fuctions of the other two that you reach for instead?

It is hard to say without seeing them on. Cropped jackets are wardrobe workhorses for me, so when I tire of them, I know that I have gotten value from them and happily pass them on to make room for a new favourite. It all depends upon how often you need them and whether they will be worn in the future.

Just writing about my occasion wear... my tuxedo jacket is from 1995 and I still love it. Both daughters also borrowed it several times as they grew up, it’s timeless.
Your neutral blazer might look a bit yellowed on the shoulders? Sounds like you need one to reach for though?

I like the tux jacket best, but if you need closet space or find it just sits there and mocks you for not wearing it, it is time to send it along.
