Keep or donate: Helmut Lang jacket

I've always wanted a Helmut Lang jacket. I found one a few years ago that was on deep discount. I bought it.... and it's been hanging in my closet ever since. I've only worn it once or twice.

I don't know if the front is too busy or the shoulders are too wide or the front is too long.

I think it would look best with a really simple and minimalist column of colour as background. But I'm not sure. I've never fel confident in it and maybe I should just donate it.

What are your thoughts on this jacket?

It might be better over narrower pants with no cuff, and worn with a heel

I always want to see detailed jackets like this over a streamlined, simple column of color or a solid color dress. They're not the easiest to work with, but it does look like a nice fit on you.

Something must have attracted you to this jacket besides the discount. It fits great and it's a really compelling statement piece. I really hope you hang on to it and figure a way to wear it more enjoyably and frequently.

I love this jacket on you. I agree with you and Janet that it would look especially fabulous over a column of color -- making the jacket the star of the show.

Thank you all! Well, now I know the fit is fine. I just need to come up with some streamlined stylings.

Mochi: I think it actually was the cropped back that really got me. Especially since I have a short waist. And the detailed front was forgiving on my apple figure.

Angie: I know the shoulders should be like this, I was just not so sure it looked good on me. Now I don't need to worry about it.

I'll post some stylings later to see if I can come up with a few outfits that I can rely on with this jacket.

I think the jacket is gorgeous. I would vote for pants with no cuff, and perhaps a bit longer, and heels. But it looks pretty good the way you have already styled it. I especially like all your color choices.

It needs to be styled the right way. Maybe think about a skirt or widely jeans or harem pants. I thin the type of top you have on cuts at a weird place with this jacket. Go for someting simpler less volume.

Keep it! It will go with anything but you can toss it on after you're dressed to get some ideas of how you like it best.

I think it looks very cute but may simply not correspond to your individual style!

So yes, donate, without hesitation... or re-sell on e-bay.

Also, one more problem I see with it is how it is so short in the back. This might pose a problem for various outfits, as it means you either have to have a dress, of a very high waist, or a very fitting top in the same color as your bottom, otherwise you get that reverse crescent in the back.
