Keep or donate denim dress?

The temperature is below 100 now, so that means it's fall and some of us think it's time to break out the boots. Ha.

1. Is this dress a keep or donate?
2. Are these boots too short to wear with a dress like this?
3. Do you think the bare legs are acceptable?

The dress is a keep and I love love love that scarf and handbag with it.

I'm not too crazy about the boots, but boots are the territory I still have to conquer so I'll leave that part to others to assess.

This is a really cute look Kyle. I like the dress. Have you tried it using one of your own leather belts? That would look chic and may be a way to breathe new life into the dress. I like the boots too, I don't think they are too short with this dress because they are fitted to the leg.

Since you asked about the bare legs, I have to admit I have never gotten used to the look of boots and bare legs but I know it's popular. So I would add the tights but I don't see any one else thinking this way, it's just my tick.

Here's another idea, but maybe for tall boots. Lately I've seen matching knee socks peeking above tall boots. I like the look with bare legs, for some reason I seem to need to see some sort of sock or stocking with any kind of boot. It's probably not for everyone and I'm not sure if it would work with the shorter boots, but it looked cute with tall boots. I've also seen it with OTK boots (Free People catalog) but that is quite edgy.

I think the dress looks great on you, and the scarf kicks it up a notch. I think the boot height is fine, but I'd maybe go for a lighter color of boot with this look -- they look just a bit heavy for the rest of the outfit. Bare legs don't bother me at all.

Dress is perfect on you, love the scarf and bag. I think that the boots are too heavy. I think a lighter, taller boot or maybe booties? How about heeled oxfords or wedge booties?

I have a pair of cream boots that are not quite right for this, I think. I would like very much to have a pair of light beige or light caramel boots for bookending...I just can't find anything with a reasonable heel and smaller calf. if anyone has seen such a boot, please advise.

If I wear oxfords or booties I will have to add tights, I think. Don't think I want that much bare leg. Thanks to everyone for the good ideas and suggestions.

The scarf has a bit of black to connect with the boots and that's why I added it...not enough to make the black boots work, I suppose.

I was going to say the same thing as Sarah. The dress is a great fit and looks fab on you. I would try adding a black micromesh tight to tie in the boot but think it looks fine as is. I'm with Cocolion in that I am not accustomed to the bare leg with boots look. It seems out of syn to me.

Kyle, everyone agrees the dress looks terrific...which makes me wonder why you thought to donate? What about it was bothering you? Is it not congruent with where you want your style to be going?

Boots with bare legs...I've been wearing it lately, as you know. And it's a first for me. Truth be told, in our cold climate (with its hot hot summers), there are only about 3 weeks a year that anyone with a brain would be interested in trying this! So I think that might be partly why it takes our eye a while to adjust to it; Dianthus might fall into the same category as me that way. I have to say, for the whole three weeks that it seemed reasonable to me, it WAS a fun way to go; kept me warm enough but not hot.

In this case, though I agree with Jean's footwear suggestions. This doesn't look bad to me; just not your usual knock-em-dead fab.

I think you look fab from head to toe! I personally love the look of boots with bare legs. I see what Jean is saying about them looking dark, but I don't mind that.

Suz, and others who asked about the dress...I can't put my finger on why I rarely reach for this. The length? Style? Fit? Maybe I've not cracked the code on how to style it. Thought it would be helpful to hear from you all, and it has been, so thanks.

Kyle, you are always (ALWAYS!) a vision of elegance and sophistication. I love this frock on you. The scarf is the perfect touch; however, you could totally add your own belt (think leo!) as Denise suggested. I quite love boots with bare legs, also.

And once it dips into the 80s (ha), maybe you can add a topper, too. ;D

I think you rarely reach for this frock because it's a little short and the sleeve length is "cutesy". It's not as elegant and sophisticated as your other dresses. Does that make sense, Kyle?

That being said, it's great for your climate and you look fab in this dress
